Ageless Grease star totally unrecognisable 45 years on from hit musical film success

One Grease actress is still ageless as ever after rising to fame in the 1978 rom-com musical movie – but she looks totally different from her poodle skirt days.

Susan Buckner, now aged 70, shot to fame as goodie-two-shoes cheerleader Patty Simcox, who is the first to welcome Olivia Newton-John’s Sandy to Rydell High.

She was just 25 when she filmed the iconic scenes, and her character was the butt of plenty of jokes from the Pink Ladies and the T-Birds.

But for Susan, she was living the life alongside Olivia and her other co-star John Travolta.

She was usually spotted wearing her mouse brown hair in a high ponytail, with a pair of heart-shaped glasses perched atop her nose and a cream collared blouse over a long skirt.

Now, however, Susan sports much lighter blonde tresses, worn in loose curls to just below her shoulders.

And despite reaching her seventh decade, Susan still looks just as youthful as ever.

The Seattle native first stepped into the spotlight in a series of beauty pageants, and became Miss Washington in 1971 before becoming a top ten finalist in the Miss America pageant.

Grease was her big break, but she also starred in everything from Starsky & Hutch to The Brady Bunch.

But working on Grease wasn’t always easy, as the star admitted to People magazine that her kids only see her as the stuck-up Patty.

She told the publication back in 1998: “They don’t believe me when I tell them I’m really hip, I’m really cool. They say, ‘Look at you, Mom. You were Patty Simcox’.”

But behind the scenes, Susan was a rule breaker.

She fessed up: “We were so bad. Almost everybody would come in two, three hours late. They had to bring us all in and give us a lecture.”

She left the acting industry in 1989

Susan tied the knot with her now ex-husband Michael R Josephs and they welcomed two children together, son Adam and daughter Samantha.

Though she has taken a step back from acting, Susan uses her famous name to help charitable causes – and even auctioned off a signed bra for the American Cancer Society.

She ended her career directing children’s theatre in Miami, Florida, with her last major acting credit coming in 1981 flick Deadly Blessing.

She did, however, land an uncredited role in the 1989 flick Police Academy 6: City Under Siege.
