Alison Hammond ‘excited’ for break from This Morning and says it’s ‘last day’ with Dermot

Alison Hammond revealed she was ‘excited’ to have a summer break away from This Morning.

The TV personality took to the airwaves to present Friday’s edition (28 July) of the flagship ITV magazine programme alongside her usual co-host Dermot O’Leary.

But their introduction may have not gone as planned as she made a subtle dig at the show’s drama in a blink and you’ll miss it moment.

As Dermot, 50, and Alison, 48, told viewers what was coming up on the rest the the show, the former X Factor host couldn’t help but get excited at the menu for the day.

Dermot asked: “Is it my birthday today?

Phil’s making a fry-up, you’re [Helen] just doing drinks on how to drink with takeaway!

Alison sarcastically interjected: “And you’re finishing early, it IS your birthday!”

She continued: “It’s just for you Dermot O’Leary, because it’s our last day together, because we’ve got our summer off.”

The former Big Brother’s Little Brother presenter confirmed: “Our summer break!”

To which, Alison quickly added: “I’m excited!”

This comes after reports emerged that bosses were worried they might have to split up the pairing after the relationship between the pair seemingly become strained.

This was after the fallout of the departure of Phillip Schofield who resigned from ITV after he admitted to having an ‘unwise but not illegal’ affair with a younger colleague.

The pair will be taking a break from the ITV show over summer

A source told the Mail On Sunday : “Alison and Dermot got off to a tricky start, they had very different levels of experience and came from totally different places but they then did start to rub along quite nicely.

“Recently though things have become strained and it is worrying the bosses, they fear that this couple they put together which they had hoped would carry the show through the tough times it is enduring may have to present apart a bit more.”

However, ITV source told The Sun: “This is absolute nonsense. There’s no tension between Alison and Dermot, quite the opposite.”
