Bachelorette contestant Josh Setier has died aged 36 just days after posting about “anxiety and depression” on social media.
The reality star appeared on the ABC show back in 2015 and was known for his open attitude about mental health.
In a statement, his family said: “It is with an extremely heavy heart that we share the tragic news of Josh’s unexpected passing. As all who knew him can attest, Josh was an incredibly bright light in an increasingly dim world.”

They went on to say that “his fearless voice and indomitable spirit helped thousands of people in their darkest moments feel just a little less alone”.
In a heartbreaking final message, Josh’s family said that “although they are heartbroken” after his passing, they are “finding comfort in the fact that he is finally at peace”.
Seiter’s family did not announce his cause of death but urged “anyone who is experiencing a mental health crisis” to get help.

Seiter’s reality stint began on Kaitlyn Bristowe’s The Bachelorette season eight years ago after he was eliminated within the first week.
As reported by The Sun, Josh was born in Chicago, Illinois on 14 August 1987.
After earning his bachelor’s degree the reality star also obtained a Juris Doctor degree at Chicago-Kent College of Law.
He had a large number of followers on Instagram and was candid about his mental health struggles.
Josh’s posted his final message to his 456,000 followers on 24 August 2023 which read: “Surviving depression and anxiety one day at a time with a smile.”
In the picture, Seiter beamed from ear to ear as he held the camera out in front of him.
He wore a smart black shirt and a warm smile as he posed for the selfie, his hair pushed back out of his face and a tidy dining room behind him.
Josh had pinned a post from July 2021 at the top of his Instagram page and opened up about his past.
In the caption, Seiter wrote: “I’m Josh Seiter, and I’m a suicide attempt survivor. I battle OCD, Bipolar Depression and GAD (generalised anxiety disorder), but I refuse to give up. What did you survive?”
