BBC Breakfast's Naga Munchetty returns to show following unexplained absence

BBC Breakfast’s Naga Munchetty made a return to screens on Friday morning (March 8) after she was missing from the show for almost three weeks.

The 48-year-old, who presents the programme alongside Charlie Stayt from Thursday to Saturday, left a number of viewers concerned after they noticed she had been replaced three Thursdays in a row.

But during the latest episode, Naga was back on the red sofa and was welcomed back by a number of avid viewers.

And a third chimed: “Naga is such a natural presenter on @BBCBreakfast.”

Earlier this week, fans took to social media to question the BBC as they demanded to know where Naga had gone.

Jumping onto Twitter, one viewer asked: “BBCBreakfast Can anyone tell me what’s happened to Naga Munchetty?”

Another added: “Where is Naga? John is doing a great job, but Naga really puts the interviewee on the spot!”

While a third questioned: “@TVNaga01 Where are you hiding Naga? It’s Thursday – why aren’t you on @bbcbreakfast sofa – surely there’s too much snow at the golf course for you?”

However Naga wasn’t the only presenter that had been missing in action this week.

Broadcaster Sally Nugent who presents the programme alongside Jon Kay from Monday-Wednesday was also missing from the show.

Earlier in the week, fans hoping to wake up to Sally bringing them the latest news update were left confused as she had mysteriously disappeared from the show without warning.

Instead Sally was replaced by Tina Daheley.

Newsreader Tina works across the BBC’s flagship radio stations before taking up the role as a stand-in host on the morning TV show, where she has provided cover on the programme since 2016.

On Tuesday, Tina gave fans on Twitter an update of her return to the show as a stand in.

She wrote: “One-off Tina Tuesday @BBCBreakfast with @jonkay01. Always a pleasure! Back with the Ball (@ZoeTheBall) @BBCRadio2 tomorrow x.”
