BBC Strictly star set to leave BBC show after she ‘felt she let co-star down’

Nikita Kanda is tipped to be the next contestant to leave Strictly Come Dancing this coming weekend, according to a body language expert.

BBC Asian Network presenter Nikita was saved from elimination against comedian Les Dennis on Sunday (October 1), who became the first celebrity to be booted from the show. Now, as the couples start gearing up for Movie Week, an expert believes Kanda is next to leave.

Darren Stanton, speaking on behalf of Betfair Slots said: “I did think Nikita and Gorka would struggle in the competition initially, but when it was announced they would be in the dance-off, you could see how important it meant for them to stay. Nikita was nearly in tears, she also dipped her head down and moved it to the right, which is an expression of feeling shame.

“I could tell she felt she let Gorka down. She really needs to up her game now they were saved,” he continued. “There is a lack of confidence from Nikita. Gorka is doing what he can to give her a boost, but she could potentially be leaving next week”.

Strictly fans already believed that professional dancer Gorka Márquez could be counting his days on the BBC competition. Several fans believe the theory that should he leave the contest early, he may not return to the dancefloor next year.

The theory believes that due to Gorka’s frustration at not winning the competition last year with partner Helen Skelton, Gorka could be calling time on his stint on the show. Márquez himself has neither confirmed nor denied the rumours.

Stanton also gave his view on some of the other competitors in this year’s series. On former Love Islander Zara McDermott, Darren said the pair were looking disconnected, adding: “He was holding her extremely tight, and there wasn’t a lot of eye contact there. It didn’t appear that Zara was giving a lot in the routine and Graziano was pulling all the strings to make it work”.

But Darren said that Amanda Abbington could be in strong contention to go far, explaining that there were “a few looks of flirtation” between her and her partner, Giovanni Pernice. “I do get the impression they have a reciprocal liking,” he elaborated. “When they are dancing together, they have strong smiles and are tactile, which are signs of a strong and confident couple on and off the dance floor”.
