BBC Strictly star ‘truly heartbroken’ over tragic loss as he pays emotional tribute

Strictly Come Dancing star Tyler West has admitted he is “truly heartbroken” at the passing of his pal and agent.

Seamus Lyte, a long time agent in showbusiness passed away earlier this week, though the cause of his death is currently unknown. Lyte was a thriving agent in the business, booking clients both the UK and going Stateside for some well-known American celebrities.

Now Tyler, 27, has paid tribute to his long-time manager and friend in a lengthy post on Instagram. The star, who competed in the 2022 edition of the BBC dancing competition, began his tribute as he tried to find the words to describe Seamus and what he meant to the radio presenter.

“Words don’t come close,” Tyler wrote to his 110,000 followers on the social media platform. “One of the best people I’ve ever known. Not just an agent, but family.

“Loving, caring, funny, the best,” he continued. “He decided to take a chance on some teenager from the estate and helped me grow to the man I am.”

West added that it was down to Seamus that Tyler was able to progress in his career, with Tyler offering guidance and wisdom wherever he went, helping so many of his “dreams become reality”. He went on to say that others should know of how good a person Lyte was.

He added: “From the UK to the States, the world deserves to know how special Seamus Lyte is. Things really can change in an instant and time is so precious, but I’m blessed to be part of his.”

The Strictly star was soon inundated with messages of support from his loyal fans, with one user taking to the comments section to pay tribute to Seamus. “I met up with Seamus in LA many years ago – he was a lovely man, sending you lots of love,” they wrote.

A second added: “Lovely words bro. He touched so many hearts and will always be in ours.” Whilst a third simply said: “Love ya mate, stay strong.”

It was thanks to Seamus that Tyler was able to get a break into the showbiz world, culminating in his participation on Strictly last year. Wildlife photographer Hamza Yassin emerged on top, lifting the glitterball trophy with Jowita Przystal.

While Tyler may not have won the series, he did score a huge win as he began dating fellow Strictly star Molly Rainford. Hamza’s successor is set to be revealed this weekend, as the final of the show takes place.

The final of this year’s Strictly Come Dancing airs this Saturday (December 16) at 7pm on BBC One and the BBC iPlayer.
