Zara McDermott was forced to leave rehearsals for Strictly Come Dancing early to go to the doctors – but luckily it wasn’t for her benefit.
The Love Island and Made in Chelsea star, 26, is in the middle of rehearsals as she made it through to Week 6 of the BBC dancing competition. Together with partner Graziano di Prima, the couple have managed to avoid being eliminated – despite having a close call going up against BBC radio host Nikita Kanda.
But as she is gearing up for another week on the show, it has been revealed she had to leave rehearsals early to go to the doctors. This was to accompany her boyfriend Sam Thompson to the GP as he felt he needed medical attention.

Speaking on his Staying Relevant Podcast together with TOWIE star Pete Wicks, Thompson revealed that he had been feeling some severe kidney pain. Previously, he had joked that he had roped Pete into going to the doctor with him for moral support, even though Pete believed nothing was wrong.
“You are the best friend,” Sam gushed to his podcast co-star. “You really are – you came to me when I thought I was dying and you literally were there for me.” Pete then responded in a deadpan manner: “Despite knowing there was nothing wrong with you.”
Sam then made the revelation that he had made Zara leave her training to accompany him whilst he sought medical attention. At the time, Thompson believed he was suffering from kidney disease and needed to be diagnosed as soon as possible.
“Do you wanna know something worse? I made Zara leave her Strictly training early to come and see me at the doctors,” Sam said whilst holding back fits of laughter. “And it was just for the guy to go, ‘Yeah, you’re fine’.”
Sam admitted: “It was a really tough week,” as he burst out laughing. Co-host Pete was quick to take a swipe back at him, quipping: “Yeah, for everyone but you by the sounds of it!”
Thompson later said in the podcast that he values the appreciation Zara and Pete have for him, as they were willing to be there for him in his hour of need. “I love my girlfriend. I love my best friend so much – I’m so lucky!”
