Big Brother hosts now – steamy lingerie shoots to heated presenter bust-ups

ITV2 has kept fans across the nation on their toes ever since they announced that Big Brother will be returning to screens later on in the year.

The reality show, originally hosted by presenter Davina McCall, left viewers amazed, entertained and often emotional as strangers were forced to live together in a house filled to the brim with cameras.

Taking on a number of challenges along the way, the contestants were often pushed to their limits as they battled it out to win a life-changing sum of money.

Strictly star AJ Odudu is one of the frontrunners rumoured to host the revamped series – but nothing has been confirmed.

On past host Emma Willis’ birthday, Daily Star has taken a look at where some of the previous presenters are now.

Davina McCall

Davina McCall was the first host of Big Brother UK

Presenter Davina McCall became the first ever presenter to host the UK reality show in the year 2000.

Known for her bubbly personality and being able to tame the notorious crowd, Davina catapulted to household stardom.

But after fronting the show for ten years, Davina hanged up her Big Brother boots when Channel 4 decided to call time on the show on their channel.

Although many thought that it might be the end of Davina’s career too, the brunette bombshell continued to prove her critics wrong.

Davina became a household name since Big Brother and has gone on to present shows like ITV’s Long Lost Family as well as be a panellist on ITV’S The Masked Singer.

Speaking about who she is still in touch with from her Big Brother days, she previously said: “I’m still in touch with people like Anna Nolan from series one and Cameron Stout, who was the winner of series four,” McCall said.

“I saw Josie Gibson the other day and she’s just brilliant. And Alison Hammond is like a flippin’ superstar. I’m so happy for her.”

As well as her presenting duties, Davina has continued to showcase her stunning physique as she models for clothing brand JD Williams.

In one of her snaps to promote the brand, Davina stripped down to her undies as he turned up the heat in a black bra and matching knickers ensemble.

Smiling gleefully for her series of bedroom snaps, Davina turned up the heat leaving her fans stunned by her effortless beauty.

Brian Dowling

Irish star Brian Dowling was crowned the winner of series two of Big Brother in 2001.

Known for his charming and charismatic personality, Brian won the nation’s hearts.

Although he appeared to disappear off screens for some time, the Irish star made an epic return when he presented the first series of Big Brother on Channel 5 in 2011.

However although things appeared to be going smoothly in his fairly new presenting role, Brian was left devastated when he discovered that he had been dropped from the position.

Speaking about losing his job, Brian said he felt “publicly humiliated” when he found out he had been dropped on social media.

In 2020, he said: “When I was fired I was hurt, upset and publicly humiliated. My mental health and confidence has suffered terribly for the last seven years because of that and other events that occurred whilst I was the host.”

However Brian was later left further annoyed when he was not featured at all in the show Big Brother: Best Shows Ever.

Brian was unhappy when Davina appeared to support the show and claimed Brian had been invited to take part in the show, which he claimed tied to “re-write history” by leaving him out.

In 2022, the TV star told The Sun that he had not received an apology from Davina regarding her remarks.

He said: “I was uncomfortable with Davina’s truth because they weren’t Davina’s truths to tell. They were my truths to tell, and how I felt regarding my firing from Channel 5.”

“Davina worked on a show on Channel 4. Davina and I had a good relationship up until the summer of last year, but things were said publicly that weren’t true and weren’t fair,” he explained.

Last year September Brian and his husband welcomed a baby daughter via surrogacy.

Dermot O’Leary

TV personality Dermot O’Lerary was part of the Big Brother presenting team and hosted the magazine spin off show Big Brother’s Little Brother.

Hosting the programme from 2001-2008, the star became well known for his chrematistic personality and his fantastic personable demeanour.

But as his popularity began to flourish, Dermot was later snatched by Simon Cowell for ITV’s the X Factor which led him to make the decision to leave Big Brother altogether.

Speaking about his departure from the show at the time, he said: “For the last seven years I’ve had the time of my life working on Big Brother’s Little Brother, from our broom cupboard days to the all-singing and literally all-dancing show we make now.”

Following his exit from the show, Dermot has gone on to present The BAFTAs, The BRIT Awards and BBC’s The One Show, to name a few.

He also presents ITV’s This Morning on a weekly basis alongside Big Brother stat Alison Hammond.

Emma Willis

Former model Emma Willis first presented the spin-off show Big Brother’s Bit on the Side in 2011 when it moved to Channel 5.

However after two years on the show, a source confirmed that Big Brother host Brian was to be axed from the position and replaced with Emma.

The source said: “Brian has been a great host but Emma is seen by channel chiefs as a true successor to Davina. They’re talking to her now about taking over the role from the summer.”

In June 2013, Emma began presenting the fourteenth series of Big Brother until it came to an end in 2018.

Since then the house hold name has gone on to present The Voice, The Celebrity Circle and Cooking With The Stars.

When asked about a possible Big Brother return last year, the mum-of-three said: “I think with every new era of Big Brother, I think there should be a new host,” she told the Radio Times.

“You know, I loved my time on the show, and I very much kind of said goodbye to it back then because we thought it was over. I don’t tend to go back. I like to move forward.”

Rylan Clarke

Rylan presented the spin off show after winning the series

Reality star Rylan Clarke became widely known to fans after starring in Sky Living series Signed by Katie Price and later The X Factor where he made it to the show finals.

But although many thought Rylan was maybe to flamboyant for TV, the star proved critics wrong when he went on to appear in Celebrity Big Brother in January 2013.

Rylan was the second celebrity to enter the house during the eleventh series and went on to become the winner of the show.

Later on in the year, as Channel 5 prepared to make changes to their original format, Rylan and AJ Odudu were announced as the new co-hosts of Big Brother’s Bit on the Side.

Since his Big Brother hosting days, Rylan has presented ITV’s This Morning and the revamp of Supermarket Sweep.
