Coronation Street icon 'splits' from husband of 20 years and 'moves out of family home'

Former Coronation Street star Wendi Peters has reportedly split from her husband Kenny Linden and moved out of the family home.

The soap star, who played fan-favourite Cilla Battersby-Brown on the ITV series, is said to have now moved into her own Hertfordshire home.

The couple’s daughter Gracie, however, has stayed with her father Kenny, who was recently registered as blind.

Kenny has a rare hereditary condition called pseudoxanthoma elasticum (PXE) which affects just 1,500 people in the UK.

A source claimed to The Sun: “Wendy and Kenny were together for a long time and had a mostly happy marriage but grew apart.

“Wendi is focusing on her new role in Doctors and looking ahead to the future.”

The actress is playing Dr Nina Bulsara in Doctors, having previously played a character called Nicky Connelly in a 2021 episode.

She appeared as Cilla on Coronation Street in more than 250 episodes between 2003 and 2014, but has also starred in the likes of Bad Girls and Out Of The Blue.

Wendi and Kenny tried to become parents for years, going through seven attempts of IVF, before they finally welcomed Gracie.

But Wendi said in 2015 that although they had wanted to, they wouldn’t be having any more children.

She said: “We did look into adoption after we had our daughter Gracie because she was an IVF baby and it took seven attempts to have her. Then we had two more attempts after her to have another child, and then we gave up.

“So we discussed it and we thought about it, but again it was that thing because of the jobs we had – we were both actors at the time – we just thought it wasn’t really something we felt we would be able to give our full attention to.

“You do consider all options, but then we thought instead of worrying about what we haven’t got, let’s enjoy what we have got. It took such a long time to have her, let’s just enjoy life with her now.”

Kenny, had a few small acting roles in the 1980s before becoming a sports masseuse.
