Corrie killer Stephen’s dark side to be ‘exposed’ to residents after Sarah blunder

Coronation Street’s Tina O’Brien admits Stephen Reid’s mask of composure is starting to slip when he accidentally “sews seeds” of concern into Sarah Barlow’s head.

Over the past few weeks, ITV fans have been glued to their screens desperate to watch the fallout of Sarah’s affair with bad boy Damon Hay (Ciarán Griffiths).

But that’s not the only drama going on in the Platt family, as serial killer and protective uncle Stephen has taken the lives of three people since he returned to the cobbles last year.

In order to keep his plan under wraps, the Canadian killer has murdered Leo Thompkins and his father Teddy Thompkins as well as his former business client Rufus Donahue.

But it’s fair to say his plans have started to derail with more and more residents starting to notice his true motives on the street.

In an interview with Daily Star and other publications, the 39-year-old soap star confessed that her character has noticed his manipulative ways after he forged a document that changed the identity of her child’s father from Damon to Adam.

When asked if the expectant mum has picked up on his scheming ways, Tina admitted: “I think it’s definitely sewn a little seed of something but at the moment she’s probably got too much going on.

“At the time [when he forged the documents] she was so shocked she was like, ‘What?’ and he was so blasé about it as well.

“She couldn’t believe what he’s done and he was almost like, ‘Well, you know…’ and brushed it off and I think that kind of made her go, ‘Oh my God, you’re quite ruthless and brutal’, and so I think that’s been stored away.

“She’s not really going there with it at the moment, she’s got far too many problems of her own right now, but maybe further along it may be something that triggers something that makes him realise that he isn’t to be trusted.”

The TV star explained that despite some of his darker personality traits shining through, the businesswoman will struggle to come to terms with what he has done because of their close relationship.

“He’s always championed her and always looked after really, he’s the one that took care of her last time [she lost a baby].

“So even if other people see a bad side of him, Sarah’s a little bit blinkered really because of how good he has been to her, or so she’s thought.”

As fans gear up to see the criminal’s ultimate downfall, the blonde bombshell reassured fans that the Platt family will be able to get through the devastating shock and come out of it even stronger.

Tina continued: “I genuinely have no idea how this story ends so it will be so interesting, however it ends I’ll be gutted if and when Todd leaves because I adore him and I love working with him.

“But I do hope that it brings the Platt family closer together because we’re an award-winning family so it would be great if it ignites an idea that we need to be together and we need to work together.”

Only time will tell if Stephen will face up to his crimes or continue to get away with his sordid schemes.
