Before his tragic passing, the entertainer enjoyed a colourful love life, having married four times and fathered four children with two different women.
He first married Brenda Wright in 1955 at the age of 21.
However, their marriage lasted just two years.
Barry’s second marriage to dancer Rosalind Tong, whom he moved to England with in 1959.
They welcomed two daughters together, Emily and Tessa but their reunion came to an end in 1970.
He fell in love with painter Diane Millstead following his seperation from Rosalind.
Barry and Diane walked down the aisle in 1979 and welcomed two children, sons Oscar and Rupert.
Oscar is a fine art dealer and journalist and his brother Rupert works in video games and co-wrote Grand Theft Auto.
Their marriage came to an end in 1989 and a year later he married his fourth wife Elizabeth Spender.
Actress Elizabeth appeared in Terry Gilliam’s 1985 movie Brazil.
They were married for three decades before his passing.
Previously speaking to MailOnline, Barry said he “thinks he is” a good husband.
He told the publication in 2018: “I have been very lucky with my marriage”.
Responding to where it went wrong with his first three marriages, he said: “Because I didn’t know what to do.
“I was very clever in some areas and very stupid in others. Most people would agree that I was not ready for marriage or early parenthood.
“But I’ve come round to it. I’ve survived in health and career. I’ve lived a very happy life. I’ve got two little grand-twins now, too.”
Barry became a staple of the British comedy circuit after moving from Australia to London in 1959 and appearing in West End shows such as Maggie May and Oliver.
He was among the leading members of the British comedy scene, alongside Dudley Moore, Alan Bennett and Spike Milligan.
Awarded the CBE in 2007 for services to entertainment, he remained active on stage, touring Britain last year with his one-man show The Man Behind The Mask.
Barry had two brothers and a sister in Melbourne.
