Dancing on Ice's Michelle Heaton axed from ITV show as star issues apology

Michelle Heaton has become the second star to be eliminated from Dancing on Ice on Sunday night (January 29).

The Liberty X singer admitted she was “gutted” to get the axe after it was announced her and skating partner Lukasz Rozycki didn’t make it through.

But poor Michelle didn’t get another chance to save her spot on the ITV show as there was no skate-off during Musicals Week – a drastic format change which put the power in the hands of the public vote.

Normally, the two skating pairs with the fewest votes get to battle it out in the dreaded skate-off, where the judges choose to save the celebrity they think deserves to go through to the next week.

But this week was different as the duo with the fewest votes was combined with the judges’ score.

Asked how she felt by host Phillip Schofield, Michelle revealed: “Gutted.”

Phil said: “We’ve absolutely loved having you here. Tell me you enjoyed it.”

Poor Michelle’s voice shook with emotion as she replied: “I’ve loved every second of it, and I loved everything that I just did there.”

She then turned to Lukasz, put a hand on his chest and praised him as she continued: “This man’s just been amazing, and I couldn’t have done anything without you.”

Michelle even apologised to him, adding: “I’m just so sorry,” but Lukasz clearly didn’t want her to apologise as he gave her a big reassuring hug and said “stop!”

Michelle and Lukasz took viewers back to the Roaring Twenties when they skated All That Jazz from Cabaret – but they only managed to bag 20 points out of a possible 40 from the judges.

Judge Christopher Dean said she was “relying on Lukasz” in her routine.

But some fans weren’t happy about Michelle’s exit, including Loose Women star Denise Welch who wrote: “There is no way Michelle should be at the bottom!!! Totally ridiculous!!!!”

Another said: “Didn’t agree with the result, in my opinion, Michelle’s performance wasn’t the worst tonight.”

A third added: “Gave all my votes to Michelle she was way undermarked.”

Dancing on Ice returns next week on ITV.
