EastEnders fans delighted as Ian Beale actor reunites with on-screen ex-wife

EastEnders fans were left in a nostalgic mood after actors Adam Woodyatt and Michelle Collins reunited for a sweet snap.

Adam, who played the role of Ian Beale and Michelle who previously played the role of Cindy Beale, were once a married couple in the popular BBC soap.

However like most couples in Albert Square, their relationship was anything but smooth sailing.

But in Michelle’s most recent snap on Instagram, the pair were all smiles as they enjoyed some time together to celebrate Adam’s role in the theatre adaptation of My Fair Lady.

In a series of snaps, the pair shared a warm embrace as they hugged each other on a leather sofa.

Meanwhile in another photo, Adam and Michelle were joined by their pals Phil Collinson and Peter Hughes.

Captioning her pics, she wrote: “Great to catch up with my #exhusband @adamwoodyatt in #myfairlady #palacetheatre #manchester he is absolutely brilliant , finishes this Saturday if you can grab a ticket.

“Amazingly #talented #cast. Good to catch up with @philcollinson and @peter_h90 too! My Manchester family!”

Seeing her wholesome display on their screens, fans headed straight over to the comment section.

One social media user wrote: “Very nostalgic to see Ian and Cindy together again haha.”

Another said: “You too were the best. Not watched EastEnders since!”

A third penned: “Adam Woodyatt was amazing in My Fair Lady!”

While a fourth added: “So lovely to see you two together.”

Although Michelle’s character was killed off in 1998, Adam’s character Ian left the Square for good in 2021.

Following his turbulent relationship with Sharon who tried to kill him, Ian was seen walking away from everything he had.

But fans were left awestruck when Ian returned to the show last year December for Dot Cotton’s funeral.

Since leaving the soap, Adam also appeared in reality show I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! and has continued to work in theatre.

Discussing Ian’s return to the show, executive producer Chris Clenshaw told RadioTimes.com that Ian had to attend Dot’s funeral.

He said: “Yeah, I called Adam, told him our plans, and I said, ‘Ian has to be there,’ and he agreed. It was kind of as simple as that. Ian would not miss it. Obviously, he didn’t make it into the church, but he said his own private goodbye to Dot.

“So, yeah, that’s how it came about. It was just that Adam wanted to be there for June and he knew that Ian should be there for Dot.”
