Emmerdale fans believe they have worked out why Jai Sharma (Chris Bisson) was adopted by Rishi Sharama as they theorised about the Sharma family’s haunting past.
Last month, Jai was left devastated after discovering Rishi (Bhasket Patel) was not his biological father and has been struggling to cope with the explosive revelation ever since.
Rishi has continued to try and make amends with his son, but Jai has remained distant and determined to find out who his real father is.

During Wednesday’s instalment (July 12) of the ITV soap, newcomer Suni Sharma (Brahmdeo Shannon Ramana) questioned what has caused a rift between the two family members.

As Suni asked Jai who his biological father is, he responded: “Ask Rishi, but he’ll probably lie to you too,” before explaining he was told he was the product of a one-night stand.
But Jai remained adamant that Rishi is withholding the truth and revealed his father won’t be invited to his wedding if he isn’t honest with him.
Later, Suni caught up with Rishi who claimed he had no further information on the identity of Jai’s real father.
“We don’t know who is father was. That man is irrelevant,” he said.
“He thinks that the truth is everything, that biology matters, but it doesn’t. When he was born I held him in my arms and I was so proud. He will always be my beloved first son.”

Rishi then begged Suni to drop his line of questioning, insisting: “The subject is closed”.
Now, fans have speculated why Jai was really adopted and theorised that his mother may have been assaulted which resulted in her pregnancy.
“I think that Jai’s mum was attacked and that’s how she conceived him #Emmerdale,” wrote one person as a second shared: “I think it will be something like he’s a result of a sexual assault”.
Someone else agreed: “That’s my guess too – mostly to knock Jai down a peg because of how angry he is at this. Whatever the news is, he’ll be so shocked and then guilty for being angry and the audience will sympathise with Rishi.”
Others suggested that Jai’s biological father may in fact be Rishi’s brother, meaning Suni would be his half-brother and not his cousin.
One viewer penned: “Rishi is lying thru his gums. Either Jai’s mum was raped or she had an affair with Rishi’s brother”.
“Perhaps Rishi will suddenly gain an estranged brother who slept with Rishi’s wife, hence him not being mentioned before?,” added a second fan.
While another commented: “Bet Jai’s biological dad isn’t just some one night stand but a relative of Rishi’s – brother or cousin?”
