One Hollywood star was left so anxious by the presence of intimacy coordinators during one of her raunchy scenes that she asked them to leave set.
Hereditary star Toni Collette was busy filming The Power when intimacy coordinators were brought in to help her simulate sex in a safe environment. But Toni already “felt at ease” with her co-stars – enough that she begged them to leave.
She revealed to The Times: “I think it’s only been a couple of times where they’ve been brought in, and I have very much trusted and felt at ease with the people I was working with. It just felt like those people who were brought in to make me feel more at ease were actually making me feel more anxious. They weren’t helping, so I asked them to leave.”

Asked whether she would have appreciated them more at the beginning of her career, she revealed: “Look, every job is different. Because it’s a bunch of new people it’s a new energy; everyone brings their whole life with them, and it’s all thrown in the pot. You never know what you’re going to get and it’s a miracle that a film ever comes together, let alone thrives.
“I’ve been very fortunate in that I’ve only worked with a few a***holes over the several decades that I’ve managed to keep this boat afloat.”
Back in 2018, Toni revealed she had made history as the “first woman to orgasm on the BBC” while playing Joy Richards in six-part drama Wanderlust. The Australian actress gushed: “Someone told me I was the first woman to have an orgasm on the BBC. And I’m happy to take the accolade.”
In raunchy scenes, Toni’s character is attempting to masturbate when her teenage son walks in – but later, a sexual encounter finally allows the climax to happen. She added to RadioTimes: “To be a middle-aged woman, to be in a longterm relationship and to be alive, dealing with a lot of things – it’s tough. Certainly a middle-aged woman’s sense of self-esteem, of sexuality, is not often talked about.”

And asked whether or not she was nervous, she said: “At first I was a little bit nervous but I got over it quite quickly. The more empathy I have with the character, the easier it is and it’s an important story – it’s representative of a big truth that’s got no real voice.”
While the BBC were unable to confirm the remark, they did say the show is “one of our most frank dramas about sex and relationships”. But The Guardian points out that at least two orgasms aired on BBC One before Wanderlust’s – in Apple Tree Yard and Lady Chatterley starring Sean Bean.
