Glastonbury Festival has announced the Arctic Monkeys and Guns ‘N’ Roses joining Elton John in heading up the iconic event this summer.

The festival, which will take place in Worthy Farm, Somerset, at the end of June, have announced the two iconic rock headliners, leaving fans going wild.

They then revealed that the Arctic Monkeys would be on Friday, and Guns ‘N’ Roses would play on Saturday.

“Many more acts and attractions still to be announced,” they concluded.

Arctic Monkeys and Guns ‘N’ Roses will join the likes of Elton John and Lizzo in headlining the event.

Other acts announced to perform are Aitch, Becky Hill, Carly Rae Jepsen, Lana Del Rey, Lewis Capaldi and Lil Nas X.

Taking to Twitter when the lineup was unveiled, fans went wild, with many sharing the poster with their thoughts.

“What a lineup…” penned one fan complete with a flame emoji.

Another added: “Solid lineup,” while a third penned: “I can’t wait for this.”

This won’t be the first time Sheffield-formed rock band Arctic Monkeys perform on the world-famous Pyramid Stage, because the band previously headlined Glastonbury in 2007 and 2013.

And for both stints at the festival, the Arctic Monkeys held the iconic Friday night slot, making this their third Friday night headlining performance.

Whereas this will be the first ever Glasto stint for US rock band Guns ‘N’ Roses.

Just the other week, bassist Duff McKagan accidentally confirmed the band would perform at Glastonbury for the first time this summer when he spoke on the radio and said: “Glastonbury is gonna be iconic”.

Although most fans are overjoyed with the lineup, some are disappointed that the three main headline acts are men, with Lizzo opening for Guns ‘N’ Roses on the Saturday and falling short of a headline performance herself.
