Good Morning Britain hosts Ben Shepherd and Kate Garraway were forced to tell off actor Jean-Claude Van Damme.
The ITV hosts interviewed the Hollywood actor and Belgian martial artist on Thursday’s show (October 19). However, at the start of the chat, Jean-Claude continued to hold up a bottle of whisky – which went against ITV’s morning filming rules, as the hosts tried to tell him to put it down.
However, he seemed to miss their point a couple of times and continued to do so before Ben had to tell him firmly. Jean-Claude said: “Don’t worry about the whisky it’s my girlfriend, it’s with me day and night.”

Ben responded: “We’ve got to stop with the whisky though we will get in trouble.” Fans at home took to social media to share their thoughts on the interview, with someone branding it a “car crash”.
One said: “I think I need a Bottle of Whiskey after that Jean Claude Van Damme Interview @ GMB.” A second added: “This Jean-Claude Van Damme interview is a total car crash #GMB.”
While a third penned: “#GMB Jean Claude Van Damme is off his nut.” A fourth shared: “That delay on the Jean Claude Van Damme interview really ruined it. The guy was in Belfast not the other side of the world. How are these sound delays still happening in 2023? #GMB.”
The actor came on the show after celebrating his 63rd birthday yesterday (October 18), and the hosts couldn’t help but tell him how good he looks. Ben and Kate also went on to ask him about his film portfolio and if he had any films coming up – to which he revealed he had.
After hearing that he was working on one more final martial arts film, Ben put his hand up to volunteer for a spot in the movie. However, his offer didn’t go down very well as the actor didn’t seem to pick up on his hints, making the interview even more awkward.
It appears that Jean-Claude’s whisky mentions weren’t random and he was actually trying to promote his new product.
Old Oak is the star’s new line of Irish whisky – which he launched yesterday, which makes sense why he was trying to promote it so much on screen.
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays on ITV1 at 6am
