Googlebox fans all say same thing as Channel 4 stars fail to recognise iconic singer

Channel 4’s Gogglebox left a number of viewers stunned during the latest episode after the stars appeared to not know who Lulu is.

The hit TV show returned for another instalment on Friday night (September 29), with the usual TV watchers back on their sofas. But as the Goggleboxers watched an episode of BBC’s Blankety Blank, a number of viewers were left surprised.

In the episode, presenter Bradley Walsh asked a contestant to name a famous Scottish person, with a few members of the celebrity panel opting for singer Lulu. But as the Gogglebox stars watched on, it was clear some of them were confused.

Sister Amira and Amani were particularly baffled, with one of them admitting she’ll have to “find out who this Lulu is”. While Pete and his sister Sophie thought Lulu was American. But viewers at home were taken aback by the admission and headed over to X, formerly known as Twitter, in their droves.

The Gogglebox stars hadn’t heard of singer Lulu

One fan wrote: “Goodness me! No one knows who Lulu is!! Am I that old?!” Another joked: ” All these people saying they don’t know who Lulu is probably made her want to… talk in a loud voice at the TV.”

A third penned: “I can’t believe they don’t know who Lulu is! I feel old even I know who she is and I’m 27. While a fourth added:”How can they not have heard of Lulu…”

As well as the Lulu admission, viewers also took to X to comment on the new mother-and-son duo, Elaine and Seb. Elaine and her son Seb are a new addition to the Gogglebox family but some viewers still haven’t got accustomed to their style of TV watching just yet.

One viewer commented: “New families always take a while to bed in but this new mother and son combo just don’t sit right. They come across as just too knowing and performative.”

Another fan shared the same sentiment. Sharing their thoughts, they wrote: “Normally I tell people to give the new families time to find their rhythm on the show and give them a chance, but Elaine and Seb are doing my head in.”
