Harry Potter’s famous Hermione scenes that didn’t actually include Emma Watson

Harry Potter burst onto the silver screen back in 2001 and followed the story of young wizard Harry Potter who learns he has magical powers.

The franchise, one of the biggest of all time, skyrocketed the careers of Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and of course, Emma Watson – but Emma didn’t actually film all of her scenes herself.

Flick Miles has spoken exclusively to Daily Star about her time playing Hermione as Emma Watson’s body double and has revealed which iconic scenes were played by Miles.

In Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Hermione drinks a potion and suddenly forms cat-like features with whiskers, fur and ears.

However, during the filming something happened which meant that Emma couldn’t do the scene herself – cue Flick to save the day.

Miles stepped in after a minor health issue and helped bring the iconic scene to life for the silver screen.

Flick spoke to Daily Star and explained what happened that day.

The star revealed: “In the second film, Hermione turns into a cat. I actually filmed that scene! Emma [Watson] had a slight reaction to the glue they used to attach all the pieces to make up that cat face.”

Flick and Emma worked closely and became friends while playing Hermione

“They had me there and asked if I would do it, I said: ‘Absolutely, yes!’ I worked with creature effects, they created this look [for me].”

She explained: “[Crew] had two different cat looks – one was more of a ginger cat and one was grey. I didn’t actually know this, but they went with the grey one because the ginger one was ‘too pretty’. They went with the grey one instead.”

Another memorable scene that no Potterhead can forget is when the kids take part in a real-life chess battle.

However, Flick revealed that she was the one who filmed a lot of Hermione’s moments.

Flick also battled during the chess scene and helped to free Buckbeak

Miles revealed: “Quite a lot of the chess scene in the first film. I can see myself in [the scenes], a little bit! Less and less as time goes on though. I’ve forgotten parts.”

Flick then blew Harry Potter fans’ minds again and said: “In the third film, Harry and Hermione go back in time to help free Buckbeak and they used us [the body doubles] quite a lot.”

“It would be the back of our heads looking out onto what [Daniel Radcliffe] and [Emma Watson] were doing, to show that we had all gone back in time.”
