ITV I’m A Celeb’s Ant and Dec confess it’s a ‘difficult watch’ as old clip resurfaces

TV presenters Ant and Dec have been left mortified after an old clip of them performing on This Morning resurfaced.

The Geordie duo who recently wrapped up this year’s series of I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out have been performing together as a double act for over three decades. The pair first rose to fame on CBBC’s hit show Byker Grove.

But they also performed together as music group PJ and Duncan. Keeping the names of their characters from the CBBC drama. Ant and Dec were famous for their smash hit, Let’s Get Ready to Rhumble released in 1994 and other songs like Eternal Love.

In the throwback clip, the pair performed in the ITV studio surrounded by Christmas trees and candles as they sang about “long conversations alone in the park that continued after the dark”. Some of the lyrics also included the words “fires burning and bodies yearning”.

The social media account who shared the clip online, labelled the video a “difficult watch”. But after seeing the clip circulate, Ant and Dec replied: “Hahahaha!! It’s a more difficult watch for us.” However some fans had no idea about the pair’s musical past and commented in confusion.

One social media user said: “I am so confused lol. Was this a joke or for real?”

Another penned: “I don’t remember this at the time. But it’s got to be the most revolting thing I’ve ever witnessed. It’s definitely overtaken Take That covering smells like teen spirit.”

Others seemed to find the funny side to it all with one social media user commenting: “The irrefutable proof that music was better in the 90s.” While another chimed in and wrote: “This is giving the two lads that auditioned on X factor with mysterious girl.”

As PJ and Ducan seemed to be a popular duo amongst fans in the 90s, they were given a number of opportunities with presenting gigs. Hosting their very own programme called the Ant and Dec Show from 1995 to 1996, the duo was awarded two BAFTAs for best children’s TV show.

Later on, the pair hosted Saturday morning show SMTV Live and CD:UK alongside Cat Deeley. The trio fronted the show for three years becoming the most popular Saturday morning show at the time.
