Jonnie Irwin praised for ‘resilience’ as he admits ‘mistake’ in career update

Jonnie Irwin has been praised by fans for “resilience” after he shared an update as he battles terminal cancer.

The Channel 4 presenter who hosts A Place in the Sun, 49, recently uploaded a new pic to his social media platforms of him recording in a BBC studio. In the snap, Jonnie gave a cheeky smirk to the camera whilst sporting a huge pair of overhead headphones.

Captioning the snap, Irwin wrote: “Recorded the [voice over] for the two short films we made for BBC’s Morning Live. Chose not to take electric bike which was a mistake.”

Jonnie was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer in 2020 and has been throwing himself into his career ever since. In November last year, he shared a heart breaking update that the cancer had spread to his brain.

Most recently, Jonnie revealed he had been battling a chest infection that had affected him particularly badly. He admitted that he had to have oxygen given to him in order to help him breathe.

But despite only being given six months to live when he first received his diagnosis, Jonnie has fought back against the disease, having undergone numerous treatments to keep his condition stable. Loyal fans have been showering the presenter with praise for being so resilient.
