Kate Garraway is reportedly set to spend Christmas at the bedside of husband Derek – along with their two children.
Derek 56, is in a “very serious condition” after suffering a major heart attack in December. Derek has been battling health complications ever since contracting Covid in March 2020.
In 2020, he ended up falling into a coma and was put on a ventilator. In total, he spent 13 months in hospital, making him Britain’s longest-suffering coronavirus victim.

And last week, Derek was rushed to hospital after he suffered a heart attack. Following Derek’s recent hospitalisation, Kate cancelled all her work for the foreseeable future as she stays by her husband’s side.

Now, it’s been claimed Kate will remain with Derek in hospital over the festive period while he “fights for his life.” It’s also been said that their two children Darcey, 15, and Billy, 11, will be there.
A source told The Sun: “It’s been a heartbreaking time for Kate and, of course, poor Derek. Sadly, his condition remains much the same.

“The children are aware of the situation and have been by their dad’s bedside as much as possible.” The insider then claimed how the family is “rallying around” and “trying to stay strong.” The source added: “At Christmas time, this is especially devastating.”
Since the news broke on Derek’s health update, Kate has been inundated with love and support from fans online. Hundreds of well-wishers have reached out to the star on social media, giving the pair their love, thoughts and prayers as Kate does what she can to look after her husband.

One fan paid tribute to the pair, writing: “My mother and I send our best wishes to you and your family, our thoughts are with you in the awful time you are going through. We hope you have the best possible Christmas and new year.”
A second user also wished Kate and Derek well, commenting: “This is so sad for the Garraway family. Derek’s body has been ravaged and we are just hoping he can get through this.”
