Kesha ‘almost died’ having her eggs frozen after ‘horrifying’ complication

Music superstar Kesha says she ‘almost died’ after having her eggs frozen.

The star developed the complication after a ‘horrifying’ medical incident after she attempted to look after her ‘reproductive health’.

The 37-year-old singer shot to fame in the noughties with hit tracks such as We R Who We R, Tik Tok and Take It Off whilst her debut album Animal went straight to number 1 on the US.

But in a new interview as she promotes her latest venture, Gag Order, she made the candid admission how she almost died from a medical complication.

The star performed at an exclusive gig on New Year’s Eve in the Bahama’s but then she was rushed to hospital after she was left too weak and unable to walk, following the procedure to freeze her eggs.

In a new interview with SELF, Kesha opened up about the seriousness of her complications after she had to take time out for months to recover.

She admitted: “I almost died in January.

“I finally feel recovered, but it took a couple months. It was horrifying, I just was taking my reproductive health into my own hands, and I stand by everyone doing that and [honouring] your body.”

The Grammy Award nominated artist was initially in hospital for nine days as a result of of complications from the procedure, as doctors found it was due to a weakened immune system

This was because of the primary immune deficiency disease she suffers from called Common Variable Immunodeficiency (CVID), which she was diagnosed with in 2022.

The Mayo Clinic says the disorder: “causes you to have low levels of the proteins that help fight infections,” where the patient may also suffer from repeated infections in places such as the ears, sinuses and the respiratory system.

It’s also stated by the medical organisation that there is an increased risk of other conditions such as digestive disorders, autoimmune disorders and blood disorders.
