Love Island Games is ‘huge twist’ on show as stars get ‘strategic’ to win prize

Love Island Games will be the first of its kind as Peacock joins up stars from across the globe to compete in challenges for the new series.

Islanders from the UK, USA, Australia, Germany, Sweden and France have all headed to Fiji in a bid to win the series and take home the prize. Liberty Poole, who will be appearing on the spin-off reality show, has said the show is a huge twist on what we’ve seen before.

Speaking at the Daily Mirror’s Pride of Britain Awards, Liberty said: “There’s definitely more focus on the game. You can go in there for love, but I found it was quite strategic.

“I’m not naturally a strategic person so it was very different for me, I went in there for love. But Love Island Games is very challenge-based and it brings a whole new twist to Love Island that nobody has seen before.”

Liberty said going into the new villa was “confusing” because she expected the show to be like Love Island, but it wasn’t. she added: “I was nervous and didn’t know what to expect. People shouldn’t watch it and expect Love Island, the format is completely different.”

And nobody can be trusted… Liberty said: “People are in there for games, they’re in there for the money. You don’t know who’s true and who’s not. There are a lot more elements to it and a lot more sides to the show that people haven’t seen before.”

Fans will be thrilled to know the sexy challenges haven’t gone anywhere, but there will be some more rigorous games too, testing endurance and strength. Liberty added: “I don’t think people will expect what it is at all.

“People may have an idea but there’s a lot of drama, no one knew what was going on, everyone was on edge. There were some strong alliances in there and people teaming together.”

Love Island Games confirmed its line-up last week – and they’ve managed to get some huge stars to sign up. Maya Jama will be hosting the series while Maura Higgins will return as the social host.

But to add more fuel to the fire, Maura’s ex Curtis Pritchard is heading back in the villa to take part in the series. Other UK stars include Megan Barton Hanson, Georgia Steel, Eyal Booker, Jack Fowler, Mike Boateng, Scott Van Der Sluis and Liberty Poole.

The series will air on Peacock but will be available to viewers with a SKY or NOW account, and will air on ITVX soon after.
