The Masked Singer fans went wild for Phoenix last weekend as they rose from the ashes once again to fight another day.
And now fans are sure they know who is behind the feathery costume after spotting some “obvious” clues that “gave away” the star’s identity.
Clues for Phoenix so far have been rising from the ashes, following a hollow trail and a mention of the mystery person “reinventing” themselves.

Phoenix’s riddle said: “I’m all flame and fire, my feathers ablaze, it may intrigue you to learn, I’ve been a catchphrase.”
So far unmasked have been sports broadcasting legend Chris Kamara as Ghost, and Piece of Cake as singing icon Lulu.
But who could be under the Phoenix costume? We take a look…
Ricky Wilson
Masked Singer fans were sure Phoenix’s opening song “gave away” his identity as Kaiser Chiefs frontman Ricky Wilson.
Phoenix emerged to the band’s hit Ruby, and fans think Phoenix’s distinctive voice belongs to the star after they impressed the panel with a rendition of Get Lucky by Daft Punk.
Taking to Twitter, one fan of the show penned: “We all know Phoenix’s voice from somewhere. Clue package was weak but I’m gonna go out there and say it’s Ricky Wilson from @KaiserChiefs.’
Another agreed: “Phoenix Ricky Wilson (though that’s means he came out to his own Kaiser Chiefs song playing).”
While someone else penned: “Ricky one of my favourite singers, he’s been on my #MaskedSingerUK wish list for years. Fantastic vocal and embodies the character so theatrically. A red hot Phoenix has never been so cool!”
Tom Ellis
Phoenix’s distinctive fiery look caught the attention of some fans who think it could be Lucifer star Tom Ellis hiding under the mask.
In the show, Tom plays the Devilish title character – though he’s not quite as cruel as one might expect.
One eagle-eyed Netflix fan gushed: “Over the past two months I devoured every episode of Lucifer on Netflix, and can now say I am totally convinced the Phoenix is Tom Ellis!
“The voice and most of the clues seem to fit? Oooh hope I’m right just so we get to see him! #MaskedSingerUK.”
Another added: “Watching #maskedsinger on demand… surely Phoenix is Lucifer himself??? Tom Ellis????”
Jason Orange
Inspired by the bright orange plumes of Phoenix’s costume, plenty of viewers – and panelist Rita Ora – think Take That star Jason Orange could be tucked away under the feathers.
Jason has been out of the spotlight for years since quitting the band, and is thought to be living a quiet life in the Cotswolds.
But it doesn’t put him out of the realm of possibility – and he’s top of Masked Singer fans’ wishlists every year.
David Tennant
One clue that stuck out to Doctor Who fans is that Phoenix constantly reinvents themselves – very similar to the Doctor in the hit BBC sci-fi show, who regenerates into different actors.
Jonathan Ross guessed David Tennant, who recently reprised the role, based on the way Phoenix walks and acts.
Fans turned to social media to agree, as one said: “Catching up on masked singer uk and is phoenix David Tennant?”
Another agreed: “I would love to see the Doctor Who legend David Tennant appear on The Masked Singer UK this season, possibly as Phoenix and I like that guess.”
Michael Ball or Alfie Boe
Some fans of the singing competition think that performing legends Michael Ball or Alfie Boe could be behind Phoenix’s mask.
One fan wondered: “Michael Ball? Alfie Boe? Freddie Flintoff? I haven’t a clue I’m rubbish at this show I have never guessed any of them correctly.”
Another took on the catchphrase clue, suggesting it could be connected to the ITV game show as they penned: “Phoenix could be Michael Ball. He has been on Catchphrase.”
As another quipped: “Sorry but at some point Michael Ball is going to have to go on the masked singer because every year I lose money betting that one of them is him!”
Someone else echoed: “Phoenix could be Alfie Boe or Michael Ball!”
The Masked Singer airs Saturday nights on ITV1
