One Netflix reality star has confessed that she was asked to breastfeed her own brother at her mum’s “mindf***” request.
My Unorthodox Life star Julia Haart opened up about the bizarre incident in her past, when her mother suggested she could feed her brother.
Hailing from New York’s Haredi community, Julia was raised as an Orthodox Jew, who typically resist modern, western customs.

Which meant her mum had no issue asking Julia to be a wet nurse for her younger brother when she was 23 and nursing her own baby daughter, Batsheva.
Julia and her brother were born 23 years apart, with him being much closer in age to Julia’s daughter.
Opening up about the experience on the Not Skinny but Not Fat podcast with Amanda Hirsch, Julia confessed: “You wanna hear a real mindf***? I nursed my brother.
“My mother’s like, ‘Oh, you’re already nursing your daughter, take this one too’, and so I ended up nursing my brother and my daughter. Now that’s a mindf***.”
But she argued: “Go back a couple of hundred years, everyone had a wet nurse, right? You didn’t nurse your own baby.”
Host Amanda pointed out: “We are not talking about a hundred years ago,” as Julia retorted: “Well we are. That’s the community I lived in.
“I lived in the 1800s. I always tell people I’m a time traveler. If you want to understand the world I lived in, go back to the 1800s. That’s it. I lived an 18th century existence.”
Perhaps unsurprisingly, Julia later turned her back on the Haredi community in 2013, when she was 42.

Julia says her daughter is the reason she eventually left her religion, explaining that her five-year-old was banned from wearing pants and would have to play soccer wearing a skirt.
“[My husband explained] Which means when you kick the ball, your skirt might lift up, a man walking by the field may see your knees and have inappropriate thoughts about them.
“My little daughter looks at my husband and says, ‘Okay, so if I’m responsible for his sins and his actions, is he responsible for mine?’ Just that very simple, logical question, that’s all it took.”
