Outnumbered star unrecognisable as shocked fan spots them in Thailand supermarket

Outnumbered star Daniel Roche looks totally different after being spotted by a fan in a supermarket in Thailand.

The former child actor shot to fame aged just seven when he landed the role of naughty Ben Brockman on the iconic BBC sitcom alongside Hugh Dennis.

Daniel starred in the show’s five series from 2007 until 2014 before returning for a Christmas special in 2016.

And Daniel, now 23, has been spotted in South East Asia – and he looks worlds away from the character he played all those years ago with a beard.

In a clip shared online, a fan approached Daniel in the shop and asked if he was Ben from Outnumbered.

The star was still sporting his character’s long locks, but he looked much more grown up and was apparently enjoying a drink or two as he was seen armed with a bottle of beer.

Daniel confirmed that it was him, but the fan didn’t seem convinced at first as he kept asking before Googling the actor to realise it was indeed him from the BBC show.

A sweet moment saw the pair share a hug to which the fan told Daniel: “You’re steaming,” and the actor replied: “You’re steaming.”

Daniel has been travelling around South East Asia earlier this year – and has been documenting his travels via Instagram.

Aside from his stint on Outnumbered, Daniel has had a number of other acting roles and was even nominated for a Children’s Bafta for his role in the BBC adaptation of Just William.

In 2010, he played a young Stephen Fry in Sky comedy Little Crackers.

Apart from his acting career, Daniel has been working on a rugby career too and played at a semi-professional level.

Outnumbered followed the lives of the Brockman family – led by dad Pete (Hugh Dennis, now 61) and mum Sue (Claire Skinner, now 58).

Tyger Drew-Honey and Ramona Marquez also starred as Daniel’s on-screen siblings, Jake and Karen.

Ramona has since quit acting since leaving the show and went on to study Mandarin and Spanish at the University of Manchester.
