Piers Morgan asks for GMB job back after Prince Harry denies accusing royals of racism

Piers Morgan has asked if he gets his Good Morning Britain job back after Prince Harry said he never accused the Royal Family of racism.

The outspoken broadcaster made headlines when he stepped down from the ITV show in 2021 after he said he didn’t believe some of the things that Meghan Markle has said in her bombshell interview with chat show queen Oprah Winfrey.

He has now settled in to his new job on TalkTV, but piped up after Harry addressed the racism issue in his interview with ITV’s Tom Bradby.

“I seem to recall being forced out of my job at @GMB for disbelieving Harry & Meghan’s unsubstantiated racism claims against the Royal Family,” Piers tweeted.

“Now he’s finally admitted there was no racism, two questions: a) Do I get my old job back? b) Why should we believe a word they say?”

During Meghan’s interview with Oprah she claimed that there were “concerns and conversations” about how dark her baby’s skin might be when he was born.

Bradby quizzed Harry about it in their chat, saying: “In the Oprah interview, you accuse members of your family of racism…”

But the royal chimed in: “No. The British press said that, right? Did Meghan ever mention, ‘They’re racists’?”

The journalist brought up what Meghan had said about the skin colour comments and asked Harry if he would describe that as “essentially racist”.

However, he said he wouldn’t, “not having lived within that family”.

“The difference between racism and unconscious bias… the two things are different,” he said.

“Once it’s been acknowledged or pointed out to you as an individual, otherwise an institution, that you have unconscious bias, you therefore have an opportunity to learn and grow from that… otherwise, unconscious bias then moves into the category of racism,” he went on.

Fans were tickled by Piers’ post, with many saying they would love to see him back on GMB.

“You definitely should get your job back and they need you!!” one tweeted.

Another said: “Would love you back on @GMB spice it up a bit. Hasn’t been the same since you left.”

However, others said they thought that Piers had stormed off the morning show himself.

“Forced out?? You walked off set mid programme,” said one.
