Beloved rapper Snoop Dogg has announced he has quit smoking weed in a cryptic post online.
The 52-year-old musician has never been one to hide his activities from his fans in the past. In fact, the Gin and Juice singer regularly opened about his drug use throughout his career.
But it appears the hitmaker has had a change of heart as he took to Instagram to announce his new lifestyle change online. Alongside a black and white picture of himself holding his hands up in prayer, he wrote: “I’m giving up smoke.”

He added: “After much consideration and conversation with my family, I’ve decided to give up smoke. Please respect my privacy at this time.”
Daily Star has reached out to Snoop Dogg’s representatives for a further comment. Fans were understandably baffled by the news, as they flooded to the comments section to share their suspicions.
One user penned: “I’m waiting for the plot twist” as another agreed: “Two days from now he’s going to say his account got hacked.” A third echoed: “April Fools?!” as a fourth chimed in with: “This feels like clickbait…”
The veteran rapper has become known for his appreciation for the drug over the years. After finding a passion for the substance, he developed several business ventures including edibles, weed strains and a digital media business devoted to marijuana-related news.
In 2015, the rap artist launched his own platform called Merry Jane, a lifestyle media outlet that serves as a hug of information for readers interested in marijuana-focused content. It was once claimed that the musician – born Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr – has an assistant rolling 75-150 for him each day. The rapper has since denied and dismissed the claims.
Renegade Piranha, who claimed to be the star’s ‘personal blunt roller’ (PBR) claimed last year: “On average, I do about half a pound a day, which seems excessive. So that’s roughly like 75 to 150 units per day. I calculate it at over 450,0000 blunts.”
It comes after Snoop announced in March that he had admitted his weed intake after he became a grandfather. Speaking to DailyMail, the Sweat singer explained his smoking was scrutinised after his eldest child Cordé became a father to his son Zion in 2015.

He recalled: “Being a grandfather has changed me in multiple ways. The main way is being concerned with how I love, how I move, the kind of people I’m associated with. Because I want to see my grandkids grow old.
“The only way I can do that is to take precautionary steps as far as how I move, who I hang out with, where I go out, my intake, what am I taking? Am I doing extra-curricular or am I just doing what I’m supposed to be doing?”
