Rita Ora left red-faced as she says ‘thanks Huw’ in awkward BBC Breakfast blunder

Rita Ora appeared to make a blunder on Saturday morning’s BBC Breakfast after she accidentally said the words “thank Huw” instead of “thank you” during her interview.

The 32-year-old appeared on the famous red sofa to promote the release of her brand new album while discussing other career highlights with hosts Charlie Stayt and Sarah Campbell.

But during her chat, Rita appeared to make an accidental reference to BBC news anchor Huw, who recently became the centre of media controversy after he was accused of paying £35,000 to a “vulnerable” teen for explicit photographs.

During her discussion, Charlie said: “You’re here doing publicity, this is the world you live in and at the same time you clearly guard your privacy.”

Rita then replied: “Yeah, thanks Huw.’ Realising what she said, she then added: “Thanks Huw? Thank you, for noticing that.”

Although it was an obvious slip of the tongue, The For You singer’s mishap didn’t go undetected by viewers at home who headed straight to Twitter to share their thoughts.

One fan said: “Not Rita Ora saying ‘thanks Huw’ on BBC Breakfast FFS.”

Fans on Twitter shared their reactions

Another shared: “Who keeps rewinding the Rita Ora interview? @BBCBreakfast.”

A third viewer penned: “Rita Ora saying ‘thanks Huw’ then quickly changes it to ‘thank you’ made me laugh.”

While a fourth said: “Soooo Rita Ora says thanks to Charlie by saying ‘thanks Huw’ hilarious @BBCBreakfast.”

Despite the reaction on Twitter, Charlie and Sarah continued with the interview as they failed to react to Rita’s slip-up.

Charlie Stayt continued business as usual

Earlier in her interview, Rita was also jokingly told off by Charlie after she said she enjoys the part of the show when the presenters can let “loose”.

Rita said: “I’m very happy to be here, I love this part of the show.

“I feel like this is when you guys can sort of get a bit loose a little bit, I mean it’s not really the news.”

Charlie replied: “You come in here telling us what we can and can not do.

“It’s none of your business if you think this is the fun bit or not!”

Sarah then chimed: “I feel like I need to get thinks back on track, I’ll be honest.”
