Shane MacGowan’s spouse, Victoria Clarke, has provided fans with a health update regarding the well-being of the Pogues’ icon, who currently remains under hospital care for treatment.
From The Pogues frontman’s hospital bedside, a cheerful image of the star was shared by Victoria and published on X (formerly known as Twitter) on Tuesday (August 29).
Following his hospitalisation due to a mystery condition, Shane found himself in the intensive care unit.

However, the 65-year-old Irish musician’s condition seemed to have improved since then, as renowned figures like Bobby Gillespie from Primal Scream and country vocalist Daniel O’Donnell visited him during his recovery from the recent health setback.
Shane’s 57-year-old wife expressed gratitude towards the medical personnel who assisted her spouse during his time in the ICU.
She wrote: “You are so kind and thoughtful and it’s so helpful.
“Prayers for everyone who is in the hospital!! And immensely grateful to all the staff!”
In the previous week, Victoria, an Irish journalist and writer, disclosed that Irish folk singer Moya Brennan had visited her ailing husband.
She posted an endearing photograph of Shane in his hospital bed, accompanied by the musician.
Along the photograph, also shared on X, Victoria wrote: “Thank you so much Moya Brennan for coming to visit Shane!
“We are getting some really nice visitors and it’s a great boost for the morale!”
With growing concerns among his admirers during the beginning of this year, Shane affirmed that he was experiencing serious medical issues.
Offering a candid update on the New Year’s Eve of 2022, the singer of “Fairytale of New York” posted a video to his X profile, just after he had been released from the hospital having battled an infection.
In the clip, Shane confirmed he was suffering from encephalitis – a rare and “serious” condition, according to the NHS.
Nevertheless, recent reports have revealed that the Kent-born music artist was brought back to the hospital last June and has been staying there since.
Victoria has refrained from detailing the specific health condition her husband has been faced with recently.
However, she did open up on Instagram saying: “There has been a lot of turbulence in my life recently and it’s been very emotional and also scary.”
