Sunday Brunch viewers say the same thing as programme ‘turns into football show’

Channel 4 viewers vented their frustrations online after one part Sunday Brunch was heavily based around football.

Presenters Simon Rimmer and Tim Lovejoy welcomed a range of celebrity guests into the studio on Sunday (July 23), including comedian Andrew Mensah.

As the duo spoke to the star about how he started in the industry, he detailed his early career as a logger for BT Sport before joining the digital team.

While working there, he landed his “mini break” during a workshop with Google where his team came up with an idea surrounding football shirts.

The trio went on to discuss the new football kits for the upcoming season before speaking about Fantasy Football League, starring Matt Lucas and Elis James as well as Andrew.

Tim, 55, who is best known for hosting Soccer AM for over a decade, joked: “Shall we just do a show on football?”

The TV duo later sat down to chat with actress Jaime Winstone, best known for her portrayal of Barbara Windsor in BBC biopic Babs.

Tim couldn’t let the opportunity slide without mentioning West Ham’s Europa Conference League win as the 38-year-old is a huge Hammers fan.

He said: “We’re now here with Jaime and as we’ve turned into a football show this morning… West Ham, you’ve won a European cup!”

The football debate clearly rubbed some viewers up the wrong way as they headed to social media to share their thoughts.

One person wrote: “This whole segment could’ve been 3-4 mins long, but because it’s football, they’ve dragged it out to about 15”.

Another shared: “Lovejoy in his element because he’s allowed to talk about football for 10 minutes solid”.

A third fumed: “Yeah, just fck off and do a football programme somewhere else, on a channel that I never watch…”
