Only those of us who have been living under a rock will have been able to avoid the chatter about beloved paranormal show Supernatural, which aired from 2005 until 2020.
Never officially cancelled by network The CW, the show finally came to a slightly anticlimactic end when the cast decided enough was enough after an incredible 15 years.
Since then, however, it’s continued to dominate headlines, with its cast involved in some pretty controversial discussions about sexuality over the years.

But where did the main Supernatural cast end up? From near-fatal car crashes to co-star romances, Daily Star has all the goss.
Jensen Ackles
Jensen Ackles is best known for his role as Dean Winchester in Supernatural – brother to Sam, played by Jared Padalecki.
Since then, he’s found fame in Amazon Prime superhero show The Boys.
He has also been involved in creating the prequel series, The Winchesters. However, the latter caught the ire of his closest co-star Jared after he revealed he found out about it via Twitter.
In June 2021, Jensen announced that a whole new spin-off would be coming to TV screens, and Jared revealed on social media that he knew nothing about it, sparking a fallout between the pair.
Jared tweeted at the time: “Dude. Happy for you. Wish I heard about this some way other than Twitter. I’m excited to watch, but bummed that Sam Winchester had no involvement whatsoever.”
Jensen later confirmed he was “superstitious” about revealing the news, hence why he didn’t tell Jared.
He told Michael Rosenbaum’s podcast Inside of You: “I’m extremely superstitious when it comes to a few things. People who are in the industry may not understand but it’s an unwritten rule that you don’t talk about sh** until it’s a done deal.
“This was my first venture into producing and creating content. I didn’t want to jinx it any cost. I shut up about it.”
Speaking of Jared’s tweet, he added: “That could have been a step that was avoided but he did it and it happened. I wish he had just called me and said, ‘Yo dude, why didn’t you tell me you were doing this?’”
The pair confirmed they are “still brothers” and had a “great talk” after the row.
Thankfully, the rest of Jensen’s personal life seems a lot less rocky, as he has been settled down with wife Danneel Ackles since 2010.
Danneel is also an actress and has even appeared in Supernatural, as well as starring alongside her hubby in the 2007 flick Ten Inch Hero.
The pair share three children, daughter Justice Jay and twins Zeppelin Bram and Arrow Rhodes.
Jared Padalecki
The other half of the Winchester brothers, Jared Padalecki played Sam from 2005 until 2020.
Life hasn’t always been simple for the star, however, as last year it was revealed he was “lucky to be alive” after a frightening car crash.
Slated to appear at a fan convention in New Jersey last year, his co-star Jensen confirmed: “[Jared] sends his love. I spoke to him yesterday, and he said he can’t be here.
“He was in a very bad car accident. He wasn’t driving, he was in the passenger seat, and he’s lucky to be alive.
“And not only that, but he’s at home recovering, which the fact that he’s not even in the hospital right now is blowing my mind, because I saw the car.”
Jensen confirmed there were “no fatalities” in the accident.
He added: “That airbag packs a punch. He’s like, ‘I feel like I went 12 rounds with Tyson’. But he is doing okay, and he’s moving around. But yeah, [it was a] really, really bad car accident.”
Jared has Supernatural to thank for meeting his wife, Genevieve Padalecki, as the pair met on set back in 2008.
Like his on-screen brother, Jared shares three kids with his co-star wife – sons Thomas and Shepherd and daughter Odette.
Jared sweetly branded Genevieve “my sweet angel [and] the love of my life” in an adorable social media post in 2018, hailing her “the only person who’s allowed to smush my nose into my face whenever they want”.
He said: “I’m so grateful to be sharing this world and this life with you. There is no me if there is no you.”
Misha Collins
Best known for playing fallen angel Castiel in the long-running series, Misha Collins made a huge blunder in 2022 as he appeared to hint to fans at a convention that he was bisexual – before hurriedly retracting the statement.
Offering a public apology for “misspeaking”, Misha confirmed he is in fact straight in a lengthy Twitter thread.
After coming under fire from fans, Misha wrote: “I want to deeply apologise for misspeaking this weekend. At a fan convention in New Jersey, when I was talking with the audience I said that I was ‘all three’ things: an introvert, an extrovert and a bisexual.
“My clumsy intention was to wave off actually discussing my sexuality, but I badly fumbled that and understand that was seen as me coming out as bisexual.”
He added: “This was not my intention so I need to correct the record: I am not bisexual. I happen to be straight, but I am also a fierce ally and the last thing I want to do is falsely co-opt the struggles of the LGBTQIA+ community.
“I believe and fully support that we need to sanctify the human right to express our identities honestly and to be free to love whomever we choose openly.”
Concluding his apology, the star went on: “I am deeply sorry for the clumsiness of my language. I want to be a better ally and I feel sick to my stomach that I might have done anything to make things worse. I’m trying to learn, trying to do better and I will keep listening.
“Thanks and I’m sorry.”
However, in line with viewers wondering if his character Castiel was in love with Dean in the show, Misha confirmed he made a “homosexual declaration of love” in the show’s final episode.
In his real life, however, Misha married wife and childhood sweetheart Victoria Vantoch in 2001, and the pair share two children.
Mark Sheppard
One of the more low-key members of the Supernatural cast, Mark Sheppard played everyone’s favourite demon, Crowley, on the hit CW show.
Towards the end of his show tenure, he tied the knot with Sarah Louise Sheppard, and the two went on to welcome a daughter, Isabella, in 2016.
Since appearing on the show, Mark has found fame in everything from video game franchise Call of Duty to HBO hit show Doom Patrol.
Star’s untimely death
Though sadly Supernatural has lost many of its older cast members over the years, the show hit the headlines in November 2022 as one star died aged just 47.
Nicki Aycox played Meg Masters in the series, and sadly died “too young” after being diagnosed with leukaemia in 2021.
Her sister-in-law Susan confirmed the news via Facebook, writing: “My beautiful, smart, fierce, incredibly talented, and loving sister-in-law, Nicki Aycox Raab, passed away yesterday with my brother, Matt Raab, by her side.
“Nicki and Matt had a wonderful life together in California. She was definitely a fighter and everyone who knew her loved her.”
Supernatural creator Eric Kripke took to Twitter to pay tribute to the late actress, writing: “Gutted to hear the great #NickiAycox, our first #MegMasters, passed away. Too young. She was a delight & delivered lines like honey & venom. I marvel at how she made a simple word like ‘lacklustre’ legendary.”
