EastEnders fans share same complaint after Whitney and Zack's heartbreaking baby news

EastEnders fans are begging soap producers to let Whitney Dean “be happy for once”, following heartbreaking news about her and Zack Hudson’s baby.

Zack and Whitney recently learnt that their unborn baby had Edwards Syndrome, with the couple making the difficult decision to terminate the pregnancy after doctors advised that their child would die before or shortly after birth.

Following the heartbreaking loss of baby Peach, fans have taken to social media to share the same complaint – that Whitney has been through too much trauma in the soap and that she should be allowed to “be happy”.

One fan said: “Less devastating storylines for Whitney and Zack in the future please. They’ve been through enough for the start of this year.”

A second agreed, saying: “I know it’s a TV show but what is EastEnders’ problem with Whitney? They just hate her. I’ve never seen a fictional character go through so much trauma and hardship. Has there ever been a two-month period where she’s just happy?”

“Why won’t they let Whitney be happy for once?” added a third, while a fourth commented: “Why can’t Whitney have a happy ending for once!?”

“Can the writers please give poor Whitney a rest?” said a fifth.

Viewers watched as emotional scenes showed Zack and Whitney talking to unborn daughter Peach in a final tender moment before saying goodbye during Monday night’s episode (February 27).

Fans praised the way soap writers dealt sensitively with the issue and the performances given by Whitney and Zack actors Shona McGarty and James Farrar.

“Just seen both EastEnders from last night. Powerful and important episodes for Whitney and Zack. Beautifully done, Shona and James with great performances,” said one viewer.

“Poor Whitney and Zack. That scene was heartbreaking and I was reduced to tears. Well done @ShonaBM and James for an exceptional performance,” agreed a second.

A third penned: “@ShonaBM you and @JamesFarrar_ were phenomenal tonight. Watching those scenes with Whitney and Zack were heartbreaking.”
