Ulrika Jonsson reveals steamy sex secrets from Gladiators ahead of BBC reboot

Ulrika Jonsson has lifted the lid on some of the steamy sex confessions from her time working on the hit show Gladiators ahead of the BBC One reboot.

Loyal fans of the show will remember the beloved TV presenter hosted the popular series for eight years during its heyday on ITV in the 1990s until it ended in 2000. The new series is set to return to our screens in the new year with TV host Bradley Walsh and his son Barney set to take over hosting duties.

As the hit TV show prepares to return to our screens, the blonde bombshell has exposed some of the show’s racy stories. Speaking to The Express, the 56-year-old confessed that the jaw-dropping bodybuilders had no trouble finding bedroom companions during the peak of the show’s fame.

She admitted: “Was everyone having sex on Gladiators back in the day? Apparently, but not me – I was too busy learning my lines.

“In the first year, we took over a whole hotel floor and there were loads of jumping about from room to room. There are loads of stories. It was a sexy show,” she chuckled.

But that didn’t mean that the stars weren’t forced to abide by some rules during their stay in the star-studded hotels. The mum-of-three went on to claim how many of the stars – including Wolf, Cobra and Jet – were often banned from using fake tan in hotels because it ruined their sheets.

She claims the Gladiators were treated like gods by ITV bosses at the time and soon became obsessed with their figures. The Swedish-born star, who presented the show alongside former footballer John Fashanu, claims that she was often ignored by executives.

Ulrika went on: “We used to film in Birmingham. In the third year we were doing the show, the Gladiators had to have their own security.

“It’s really bizarre but they became so popular and had to be transported in a coach back to the hotel – but I was left to walk on my own in the dark. But the TV bosses were like, ‘She’s alright’.

“The third year I was pregnant, and I was like, ‘Maybe somebody could give me a lift or help me cross the bridge?’” The TV personality – who briefly dated Gladiator star Hunter in 1996 – went on: “For the Gladiators their entire life was about their bodies.

“They became massive stars and their egos popped. Bodybuilding obviously becomes a kind of addiction.

“I went through a phase of being into fitness, but for them they created something extraordinary as they are not ordinary bodies.” But despite the show’s glamorous exterior, Ulrika confessed that she often ended up rewriting her own scripts and choosing her own outfits on the program.

She added: “They used to say typical ITV things like, ‘Oh Cinderella, she is going to the ball’ and I was like, ‘I would never say that’ so I used to rewrite the scripts and just work it all out and do little links. I also asked for my clothes to be changed.”
