Amazon slashes £150 off Fire TV with 4K and Alexa in unexpected price drop

Amazon has slashed a whopping £150 off its Sky-competitor Fire TV in an unexpected sale bonanza. The 43-inch series, boasting high-end features like Alexa and crisp 4K ultra-high-definition pixels, is now available for a fraction of its original price.

Just a month ago, punters would have had to shell out a hefty £429.99 for the telly, which can now be snagged for a much more wallet-friendly £279.99. The 43-inch model comes with a vibrant 4K display, HDR10, HLG, and Dolby Digital Plus, and offers significant upgrades over standard TVs in terms of hands-free features – you can control the Amazon Fire TV with your voice and Alexa.

Like its top-tier competitors, a slew of popular streaming apps can be downloaded and accessed directly from the dashboard, making this budget-friendly model function like a smart TV. This means viewers can easily access their favourite shows on Netflix, Prime Video, and Disney+ all in one place.

The most substantial discount is on the 43-inch model but if you’ve got a bit more cash to splash, the 55-inch device has also been marked down – now priced at a cool £399.99, down from £549.99. Also included in the sale is the mid-range 50-inch model, which is now £120 cheaper than before.

Packaged with its vivid imagery, superior sound, and Alexa Fire TV remote control, Amazon’s smart devices are a hit due to their ability to consolidate content in one place and their compatibility with other devices – users can connect up to three devices simultaneously, whether it’s a speaker or a gaming console, reports the Mirror.

Amazon kicked off 2023 with the launch of its integrated Fire TV sets, following the success of its handy plug-in Fire Sticks. These clever gadgets can transform any standard telly with a HDMI port into a smart device (though screen quality will depend on your specific model).

The convenience of asking Alexa to navigate its Fire TVs has led many users to compare it to rival Sky, despite Amazon being the more budget-friendly option. Its Alexa-powered voice control is akin to the ‘Hello Sky’ feature found on Sky Glass screens.

Sky, like Amazon, offers viewers the full cinematic experience. This is enhanced by its Sky Cinema and Netflix packages, but platforms such as Disney+ and Prime Video are just as easy to add to the device as they are on the Fire TV range.

Samsung TV sets offer another alternative for those who want voice-activated control. Simply press the mic button on the Samsung remote and one of the eight speakers on the 2023 OLED 65-inch S95C 4K device will pick up your commands.

All you need to do is enable ‘Voice Guide’. Users can adjust the volume, change the channel, search for their favourite TV series, or turn off the screen with a simple spoken command.
