Ant and Dec floored as Saturday Night Takeaway star swipes at Simon Cowell’s face

Ant and Dec were floored as one Saturday Night Takeaway star made a dig aimed at Simon Cowell’s face.

Saturday Night Takeaway returned last night (February 24) for its final series. Known for pranking their celebrity guests, the Geordie duo were back to their best as they got Simon, 64, involved.

The I’m A Celebrity presenters, both 48, flew all the way to sunny Los Angeles to pull off a double-whammy prank on their big boss, leaving Simon gobsmacked. Stephen Merchant was a guest star on the show and cracked a joke about doing his best Simon impression.

After showing the comedian the prank on Simon, the 49-year-old was asked whether he enjoyed it. Stephen told the hosts “No I didn’t.”

He paused for while, adding “I loved it”, referencing one of Simon’s famous lines to contestants on The X Factor. Taking a brutal dig at the music mogul, he said: “That was my Simon Cowell impression. It’s not very convincing because my face moved.”

The hilarious scenes of Simon being pulled over on his bike did cause a bit of a stir amongst fans. They noted the dad-of-one was riding without a helmet, even after he broke his back after falling from an E-bike in 2020.

Fans fumed on X as one wrote: “No helmet? Hasn’t he already had a bike accident a couple of years ago? #SaturdayNightTakeaway.” Another agreed: “Simon cycling without a helmet as well. Not setting a good example. #SaturdayNightTakeaway.”

A third fumed: “Currently watching #SaturdayNightTakeaway and I’m surprised to see Simon Cowell, a person who injured himself badly on an e-bike, not wearing a helmet. This is him genuinely out for a normal bike ride, pre-shenanigans. Look after yourselves everyone! Wear a helmet lol.” Another echoed: “Where’s your helmet Simon !!! #SaturdayNightTakeAway.”

Ant and Dec previously announced they would be “resting” Saturday Night Takeaway to spend more time with their families. Speaking to Fault magazine, Ant disclosed: “Part of the reason we’re pausing Takeaway is we need a break ourselves, and we need to spend some time with our family.

“We’ve both got children that we need to spend time with for a little bit. We need time to think and step back and look at the bigger picture and just see where we are now. Like I say, we’re turning 49, and what do we want to do next? What’s the next phase of our career?”

He continued: “And we’ve got lots of ideas and lots of offers on the table, lots of options of things we can do. But it’s working on what we do next and where the next chapter begins. So that’s what we’re gonna do when SNT is out of the way. We’ll sit down, take a bit of time, and re-evaluate everything.”
