BBC Strictly’s star left red-faced as host calls out huge blunder

Sunday’s results show on Strictly Come Dancing got a bit uncomfortable as Claudia Winkleman chatted with the celebs and dance pros about their upcoming numbers.

When speaking to dance ace Nikita Kuzmin and star Sam Quek, Claudia chimed in, “You’ve got a great song next week! ” Nikita spilled they’d be shaking it to Shakira for their Samba. He even belted out a mashup of Hips Don’t Lie and Whenever, Wherever.

But things got cringey when Claudia had to cut in, “Nikita, I love you so much but it was the other Shakira song…” leaving Nikita mortified as he slapped his face into his hands while the others fell about laughing.

Trying to sing the right tune only amped up the laughs until Claudia cut across again with a warm “I love you…” Among the chuckles, the crew piped up: “Shakira, I’m sorry.”

After the giggles, Claudia wrapped it up with, “It’s okay, she’s super busy, that’ll do! “, reports the Mirror.

Twitter erupted with laughter as viewers caught a classic blunder, sending the social media platform into overdrive. One fan tweeted: “Omfg I am absolutely CRYING at Nikita singing the wrong shakira song absolute SCENES in the Clauditorium tonight #Strictly”, another posted: “Not Nikita singing the wrong Shakira song #strictly”, a third chimed in: “how did nikita get the wrong song #strictly”, and yet another commented: “So this results show isn’t live and yet they left in Nikita’s mistake about the song? ! That’s cruel! #Strictly.”

The Strictly special got people talkin’ as the pros went totally Gru-vy, getting their ‘Minion’ on think yellow bodysuits and all that jazz, with Kai Widdrington bossing it as Gru. The celebs weren’t far behind, throwing down epic movie-themed dances while rocking out in fab costumes.

But the music stopped for Toyah Willcox and Neil Jones, who waved goodbye to BBC One’s dance floor powerhouse after a face-off with Paul Merson and Karen Hauer.

Nick Knowles of DIY SOS fame was all set to wow the crowds with Luba Mushtuk doing the Charleston to a tune from Paddington 2 but alas, an injury saw him bow out just before the weekend hit.

Last weekend saw Olympian Tom Dean and his dance partner Nadiya Bychkova become the first duo to exit the competition.
