Beloved EastEnders character’s return ‘exposed’ after eight years — but with a twist

EastEnders fans are certain that a a beloved character is returning to the soap and will be recast.

Over on the BBC soap recently, fans have been left horrified watching Dean Wicks (Matt Di Angelo) resort to sick measures to keep daughter Jade in Walford. Jade made her debut this year following a lung transplant as she suffers from cystic fibrosis.

Jade was due to leave Walford to move to Pakistan last month though – where mum Shabnam Masood is currently living. But in a sickening turn of events Dean tampered with Jade’s medication so she would be unfit to leave.

After Jade was hospitalised and released, Dean then conjured up a plan to move with Jade to Pakistan. Fortunately for Jade, Dean’s plan was delayed after he found himself arrested for the murder of Keanu Taylor – after the Six pinned it on him.

Jade has since been left heartbroken at the drama involving her dad. Now, with Dean locked up for murder, fans are certain are Shabnam could be coming back to Walford. But with a big twist.

Shabnam first appeared on the BBC soap in 2007 played by Zahra Ahmadi. The character was introduced as the daughter of the Masood clan. But after just one year, Zahra left the soap.

Shabnam then made a return in 2014 – this time though, she was played by Rakhee Thakrar. From a failed relationship to giving birth to a stillborn, Shabnam’s second time in Walford was not short of drama.

But in 2016, the character exited the soap once more. Now fans reckon Shabnam is returning to Walford – but with the original actress Zahra Ahmadi instead.

Over on an EastEnders Facebook fan page, one person asked: “Do you think Shabnam could return to Walford or make a cameo appearance during Jade’s storyline and which Shabnam?”

Someone replied: “Yes the old shabz please.” A third claimed: “That would make sense because I don’t think the second Shabnam wants to come back.” Another viewer chimed in and wrote: “Bring the old Shabnam back.” Echoing their thoughts, a fifth penned: “The original one was great.”

EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer
