Ben Shephard’s big move to This Morning is happening even sooner than he expected.
Last week, the news dropped that Ben, who’s 49, and Cat Deeley are taking over This Morning. They’re stepping in after Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby left last year. So, after a whole decade, Ben’s saying goodbye to Good Morning Britain.
On his last day at GMB, Ben and his buddy Kate Garraway, who’s 56, chatted about him leaving and his new adventure. When Richard Arnold was doing the entertainment news, he explained when Ben will start on This Morning – and it’s very soon.

Richard announced: “Breaking news, just in, I can reveal that Ben Shephard’s debut on This Morning… will be Monday March 11, right here on ITV!” Kate joked around asking: “Monday March 11! Did you know that by the way or has Richard just told you?” And Ben made everyone laugh by saying: “I thought I had another week off!”
Kate Garraway kicked off the show saying: “It’s not even a minute past six, I just realised that’s the last time we’re here Good Morning Britain with Ben Shephard and Kate Garraway. I’m off already, too emotional!”
Meanwhile, Ben said: “I’m desperately trying to hold this together, we’ve got three hours” and Kate asked him: “Are you? Feeling a bit emotional?” Ben then confessed: “Yeah, I do!” Charlotte Hawkins also felt the emotions, adding: “I have to say, Ben, we’ll be doing our best to keep it together today.”
Later in the show, Good Morning Britain showed lots of touching messages for Ben from his co-stars who couldn’t be there on Friday, and some really special ones from his favourite football team, West Ham United.
This all happened after Ben talked about leaving the show on Thursday. He said: “Thank you very much for the amazing messages that I have had.
“Obviously, it’s something I considered very, very carefully because these guys have been my family for the last 10 years for some of them and way, way longer for us [Kate]. So, it’s not something that I’ve taken lightly but it feels like quite an exciting opportunity.”
