Big Brother has sparked chaos as a man entered with his two wives.
The reality TV titan is known for breaking the boundaries of what the public can be shown. Here in the UK, several iconic moments including Kinga’s champagne bottle incident pushed the limits on what broadcasters can and cannot show.
However, international versions of the show are also known to cause a stir for their own audiences. In India, the current season has caused an uproar from viewers after an influencer throuple joined the cast of Big Brother – known in India as Bigg Boss OTT.

Social media star Armaan Malik, 36, walked into the house with his two wives Payal and Kritika, as almost 9million people watched on in horror. The threesome gave off the impression they were in love with each other, and married life has been bliss.
However, it was revealed that the couple became a throuple when Armaan had an affair with Kritika seven years after tying the knot with Payal, who was supposedly Kritika’s “best friend”, back in 2011. Speaking about the strange dynamic going into the house, Payal admitted: “I didn’t realise they would get so close but I totally accepted Kritika and we absolutely love each other and live together as a happy family.”
The throuple entered the House as individual housemates, and as the show progressed, the public opted to vote out Payal in the latest eviction on Sunday (June 30). Coming out of the House, and with Armaan and Kritika safely inside, Payal began to spill the beans on what the relationship was really like.
Speaking about her feelings on the show, Payal told local media in India that she was “on the verge of committing suicide” when she discovered that Armaan had cheated on her. The couple split up for a year, adding: “There was a time when we didn’t want to see each other’s face.”
She also blasted the happy image they had constructed while being on the show, saying that no one should go through what she did. “Be it in our vlogs or interviews, we have never promoted it,” she said.
“Whatever mistake Armaan did, I don’t think any man in India should do. We managed to sustain it, but I don’t think anyone else can do that.”
Bigamy – where someone is legally married to two different people – is illegal under Indian law; however, Muslims are allowed to get hitched to several women under Islamic personal law. This did not matter to Armaan, Kritika and Payal, who are all Hindu – meaning non-monogamy is strictly illegal.
But despite the strict laws against bigamy in India, the practice is still carried out. A lawyer for the Supreme Court in India Sanjay Hedge explained in an interview with The Times: “A man can indeed be prosecuted but only if the first wife brings charges; not otherwise. It can’t be a third party.”
