Blake Lively forced to apologise after ‘insensitive’ Kate Middleton social media post

Blake Lively has said sorry after getting a lot of flack for an online post that seemed to poke fun at Kate Middleton.

On her Instagram Story, Blake wrote: “I’m sure no one cares today but I feel like I have to acknowledge this. I made a silly post around the ‘photoshop fails’ frenzy, and oh man, that post has me mortified today. I’m sorry. Sending love and well wishes to all, always.”

The movie star who is married to Ryan Reynolds had joined in with other celebs making jokes about Kate Middleton staying out of the spotlight lately, while wild stories spread online. Things kicked off when the Palace put out a photo of Kate with her kids for Mother’s Day, but it had some Photoshop mistakes. This made lots of people wonder if the picture was even real.

Blake, who is 36 years old, had put up a post on Instagram right after the photo mess, and many on social media thought she was making fun of the Royal, reports the Mirror. Then, on Friday, after everyone heard the sad news about Kate’s cancer, loads of people went to Blake’s Instagram to vent their anger for what they thought was a mean post.

Blake was criticised by social media users for making a joke about the Princess of Wales, even though she couldn’t have known at the time what was wrong. People thought she was being “insensitive” and called her out in the comments section of her post.

One person said: “You should be ashamed of yourself. She has cancer.” Another added: “Better feel bad now for making fun after that announcement from the Palace.” A third person commented: “Apologise to Kate Middleton… your words were disgusting… how would you like to be her shows right now? “.

In her original post, Blake was promoting her Betty Booze brand and four new products. She seemed to be joking about the rumours about Kate, adding at the end of the caption: “Now you know why I’ve been MIA.”

But Blake wasn’t the only celebrity to seemingly make fun of the situation. Kim Kardashian also shared a post last week, where she mentioned Kate in her caption. She shared a series of pictures of herself posing and joked in the caption: “On my way to find Kate.” Surprisingly, Kim’s post hasn’t received many comments yet.
