Britain’s Got Talent 2024 start date confirmed – and fans only have days to wait

Britain’s Got Talent fans, get ready to mark your calendars.

The return date for the popular ITV show has finally been announced. The hit series, led by judge Simon Cowell, has been a staple since 2007 and the 2024 season will be its seventeenth run.

Simon will once again be joined by hosts Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly and fellow judges Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon, and Bruno Tonioli in their quest to discover the best singers, comedians, dancers and more in the annual talent search.

Viewers have been eagerly anticipating the announcement of the return date, especially as auditions for the 2024 season have already taken place across the UK. The wait is nearly over, with the new season just a few weeks away. On Wednesday (April 10), it was revealed that the new season will kick off on Saturday April 20.

The first episode of auditions is set to air from 7:30pm and will run until 8:55pm, reports the Mirror. The show promises to return with a bang, offering almost an hour and a half of performances and judgements. There’s also the chance that one of the judges, or even the show hosts, will hit their golden buzzer, sending one contestant straight through to the live semi-finals without the need for the other judges to vote.

The second episode of the new season is set to hit your screens on Sunday, April 21 at 7:40pm. And it’s not just homegrown acts you’ll be treated to a plethora of international performers have jetted in to dazzle Simon, Amanda and the rest of the judging panel.

An insider dished the dirt to The Sun, saying: “People know the show often features foreign acts – some of them are utterly brilliant and, in many cases, go on to win the contest. But it’s a surprise to think that the cream of the crop who are sent through on golden buzzers are often from other countries.”

The stakes are high with a whopping £250,000 up for grabs, not to mention the prestigious slot at the Royal Variety Performance. It’s the ultimate gig where winners can flaunt their talents before a glittering audience, including royalty.
