Corrie legend Daran Little, famed for his work on the cobbles from 2001 until 2010 before becoming a scriptwriter for rival soap EastEnders, has just announced he’s a granddad for the sixth time cracking open the vodka to celebrate. Hopping onto X the new Twitter this Monday (September 2), Daran gushed with pride as he revealed his family’s latest addition.
“Grandchildren No.6 born today. Very proud granddad about to open the vodka!” Daran proclaimed. Celebs and fans alike were quick to offer their congrats, with Denise Welch dishing out: “What!! Congratulations that’s fantastic.”
Another adoring fan gushed: “Awww that’s lovely, congratulations @DaranLittle. I bet you make an amazing grandad,” to which Daran humbly replied: “Aww thank you. They keep me young.”
Teasing over his youthful looks, a follower commented: “You don’t look old enough!” prompting Daran to quip back: “One tries!”, reports OK!
The TV scribe also confirmed the new arrival is a baby boy.
Off-screen, Daran’s life is as much a drama as his on-screen plots; although openly gay, he took the plunge and married a woman. He said: “I’m gay and I got married in a church… to a woman… because I feared being gay in a world that didn’t accept me. That was 25 years ago.”
Opening up, Daran shared a slice of his love life: “I’ve been engaged seven times, married and divorced three times. But I’m not convinced I’ve ever been in love, or do I just fall in love too easily?”
Although he’s typically reserved about his personal life, he occasionally shares updates about his grandchildren. Last year, he posted: “What are you doing today? I’m at my son’s wedding, just about to be in the same room as all my five grandchildren all at the same time.”
However, this joyful news follows a poignant admission Daran made on social media, stating: “I don’t mean this in any way morbid and all’s great with my world… but, the older I get the more okay I am about dying. I’ve no desire to try and ‘stay young’, getting older is pretty cool!”
