Coronation Street icon Helen Worth’s next TV job ‘revealed’ after shock exit news

Helen Worth’s next TV stints have been discussed following the news that she’s leaving Coronation Street.

The 73 year old actress, who has become a household name as Gail Platt, is gearing up to wave goodbye to Weatherfield later this year after 50 years on the ITV soap. And her options could include appearances on Strictly and I’m A Celebrity.

But PR expert Jake Holyoak reckons she could do something different and host her own lifestyle show. Jake, the Digital PR Manager at Bonus Finder, told Express.co.uk.: “Helen, a stalwart of the cobbled streets, is bidding adieu to Weatherfield, and naturally, the rumour mill’s buzzing with possibilities.

“I’m a Celebrity and Strictly Come Dancing are obvious choices, but let’s think outside the box, shall we?. Maybe Helen hosting her own lifestyle show, dishing out gardening tips or whipping up recipes from her character’s beloved Betty’s Hot Pot. It’s all about showcasing her range and surprising her fans.”

“I made the decision at the start of the year and spoke to the producers who were very kind and understanding. I have been truly blessed to have been given the most incredible scripts week in and week out, and to have worked with fantastic actors, directors, and a brilliant crew.

“The past 50 years have flown by and I don’t think the fact that I am leaving has quite sunk in yet.” The soap veteran will start filming her departure storyline next month, with the poignant scenes set to air at the end of the year.
