Former Corrie and Emmerdale star Hayley Tamaddon has opened up about her recent health scare and the challenges of juggling motherhood with her career.
The actress, who also bagged the Dancing On Ice crown, shared a heartfelt update on Instagram late Wednesday night (June 12), telling her followers about the excruciating pain that led to her hospitalisation and being hooked up to a drip.
Hayley recounted waking up in agony, feeling like her “head was gonna explode,” followed by bouts of vomiting. After dropping her son Jasper at nursery and attempting to push through for a photo shoot, she realised she needed medical attention and ended up in hospital receiving medication via a drip.

Despite the treatment, Hayley revealed her “head and neck pain was still horrendous” and after undergoing a scan, she was diagnosed with arthritis. In a candid post to her 98,300 fans, Hayley detailed her day: “Today. Woke up.
“Thought my head was gonna explode. Puked up twice. Took Jasper to nursery. Got ready for a photo shoot. Got there and realised I really should see a doctor. Ended up in hospital. On a drop for medication. It didn’t work.”
Continuing her story, she said: “Head and neck pain still horrendous. Had a scan. Got told I have arthritis. Came home. Picked jasper up. Made tea. Put him to bed. Took some tablets. Had a cry Going back to the hospital tomorrow. Life of a single working mum.”, reports the Manchester Evening News.
The NHS warns that arthritis can cause joint pain and swelling. Osteoarthritis often starts in folks over their mid-40s, leading to cartilage loss in the worst cases, while rheumatoid arthritis can strike those as young as 30, linked to immune system troubles.
Hayley’s dash to the hospital follows her son Jasper’s emergency visit earlier this year. She shared with her fans back then that little Jasper “couldn’t stop being sick” and was undergoing “lots of tests” by doctors trying to figure out what was wrong.
Hayley is probably best known for her roles as Del Dingle on ITV soap Emmerdale from 2005 to 2007 and Andrea Beckett on Coronation Street from 2013 to 2015. She also bagged the Dancing On Ice crown in 2010 alongside her pro skater Daniel Whiston and has recently been treading the boards in the hit musical Everybody’s Talking About Jamie.
