Coronation Street seems to be hinting at a grim new plot for Sam Blakeman.
The young character, portrayed by Jude Riordan, made his debut on the cobbles in 2020 as Nick Tilsley’s (Ben Price) long-lost son. Sam didn’t meet his dad until he was nine, as his mum Natasha Blakeman (Rachel Leskovac) and Nick had parted ways before she realised she was expecting.
It’s safe to say that Sam’s stint in Weatherfield has been anything but drama-free. Viewers will remember the heartbreaking moment when Sam lost his mother Natasha in 2021 after she was fatally shot by drug kingpin Harvey Gaskell (Will Mellor).
Jude’s portrayal of Sam’s sorrow as he bid an emotional farewell to Natasha earned him accolades from fans for his exceptional performance. Moreover, recent events in the ITV soap have left him devastated once more, following his father’s breakup with Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson).

Earlier this year, Nick betrayed Leanne by having an affair with her sister Toyah (Georgia Taylor), reports the Liverpool Echo. Their illicit relationship began when Leanne became involved with the cult group, The Institute, headed by the ominous Rowan Cunliffe (Emrhys Cooper. ).
Rowan ended up extorting Nick and Leanne over their affair, but in ‘true’ soap opera style, the truth eventually surfaced. Leanne and Sam were reeling after Nick’s cheating bombshell. Despite initially fleeing the nest he shared with Leanne, Toyah, and Sam, Nick’s made a U-turn, sliding back into the pad this week, leaving Leanne and Toyah to hunt for a new gaff.

But drama brewed in Wednesday’s tearjerker (October 23) as a miffed Sam discovered his old man spent the day helping Toyah ship her stuff to her fresh digs. Post-Gail’s (Helen Worth) heart-wrenching heart attack and hospital drama, Toyah swung by Nick and Sam’s to see how they were holding up. Yet Sam was having none of it he clapped back at Toyah, making it crystal clear he didn’t want any of her sympathy.
Now, Corrie fans are predicting next-level dark twist ahead for young Sam. Viewers warriors on a Corrie Facebook fan page are all abuzz, casting their bets on Sam maybe going for Toyah in an edge-of-your-seat plot twist.

A fan said: “I always thought Nick and Leanne would grow old together. But is there still a chance they could get back together and if so what about Toyah.” Eager social media users quickly hit up the comments section. One speculated: “He isn’t going to let Toyah be with his dad.”
Another added their tuppence worth: “He will probably do whatever he can, I could see him trying to attack her.” Yet another soap sleuth suggested: “I can see that happening, can’t imagine he will let things get back to normal. He loved Leanne.” And another hinted: “There is definitely something coming up with Sam by the way he acted. Toyah needs to watch out.”
