Dance Moms star Kelly Hyland has been diagnosed with breast cancer – and daughters Brooke and Paige are there to support her all the way.
The iconic momager – who had plenty of beef with dance instructor Abby Lee Miller on the reality show – confirmed she is currently undergoing chemotherapy after finding a lump in her breast in March 2024. She has been diagnosed with invasive carcinoma grade 3 after booking herself in for a mammogram.
Kelly told E! News: “I had just had one done eight months prior and the results came back clean. However, this new mammogram and sonogram did not, it came back showing a mass. I went from clean results to a malignant mass in eight months.

“I was shocked that it had grown that quickly and scared of the battle I knew I was about to face.” She said she noticed something was wrong when she had “significant weight loss” despite not changing her diet or exercise regime.

She was worried about telling daughters Brooke, 26, and Paige, 23, along with son Josh, 24, about her diagnosis. But eventually she told them over the phone, just years after they lost their grandmother to cancer in 2019.
Kelly is undergoing six rounds of chemotherapy, which will be followed by surgery, radiation, and then 11 more rounds of chemo. Her daughters have both taken to social media to share their support for their mum, showing Kelly being fitted for wigs as her hair falls out from the treatment.

Another snap showed Kelly in hospital hooked up to an IV for her treatment, flashing the bird at the machine with a padded cap worn over her head and shoulders. Paige told her mum: “Strongest person I know. I love you more.”
Kelly replied to her daughter: “I love you more angel!” Brooke, meanwhile, wrote: “Confident that cancer has no idea who it’s messing with. I love you, mom,” as Kelly told her: “I love you angel, I got this.”

Her Dance Moms co-stars were also on hand to wish Kelly the best, with Kendall Vertes writing: “Sending love and strength your way.” Kalani Hilliker added: “She’s got this!”
Fans rushed to show Kelly support, with one urging: “If she could handle Abby Miller she can handle anything!” and another echoing: “Your hair looks so natural. If I didn’t see you [being fitted] I wouldn’t have known it was a wig. You got this. Kick cancer’s butt. You are a true inspiration.”
