Dragons’ Den star Sara Davies has been married to husband Simon since 2007, but she has previously shared that when they first got together it was “quite a scandal”.
The pair were childhood sweethearts but when they started dating, Simon was 19 and Sara was just 15. And it seems the age gap caused a bit of a stir.
“Well, I was 15, Simon was 19, so it was quite a scandal at the time,” the TV star previously told the Mirror. “He was my first boyfriend and I was his first girlfriend.

“Simon was the star of our local cricket team and I remember him coming over and he asked for my number. I was shaking writing my number down and the rest’s history, as they say.”
Their romance went the distance and 24 years after that first date, the pair are still happily together. We have a look at their lives now.
Tying the knot and working together

The couple got married in 2007 and they have settled down in Teesside. A year after they exchanged vows, Simon became managing director of Sara’s hugely successful company Crafter’s Companion, which she started in her bedroom when she was still a student.
“He oversees the day to day running of the business and I get to focus on business development and all things creative, which I love,” Sara said on her website.

Sara and Simon have two boys together, 10-year-old Oliver and Charlie, who is seven. She doesn’t share too much about her sons in public, although on birthdays she has posted baby pictures on Instagram.
Marking Oliver’s birthday earlier this year, she wrote: “My big lad turns 10 today! Double figures! Feels like only yesterday we were taking him home from the hospital! Omg it’s brought so many happy memories back going through old photos!”
She also talked about them a little bit on her site, telling fans: “We’ve got two amazing kids, Charlie and Oliver, who share my passion for making and we’re always trying out new things together.”
The businesswoman has also said before that she and Simon are “absolutely on the same page on how we want our kids to grow up” and that they want them to be grounded. She told Mother & Baby: “Simon and I, if we go on holiday just the two of us, we’ll go somewhere quite expensive to a nice posh hotel but if we’re going with the kids, we won’t, because I don’t want the kids to think that’s what a regular holiday looks like.
“Last weekend I took the kids to Haven and we stayed in my friend’s caravan cos that’s what we would have done as kids and they had the best time. It just shows, it doesn’t have to be expensive material things – it’s just about making memories with the family.”
Marriage secret
Sara has previously opened up about her romance with Simon, saying in 2021 that she believes they are “still as madly in love today as we were 22 years ago”.
“We have this deep-rooted respect of each other and the role we play in our relationship,” she told the Mirror. “I idolise the ground he walks on.”
She also told how they make time for each other, revealing that if they’ve had a busy day they will put aside time to talk that evening. “We’ll have tea, I’ll get the kids to bed and before we put a movie on we’ll have our meeting,” she explained.
