TV host Eamonn Holmes revealed that he managed to shed three stone (19kg) simply by incorporating juicing into his diet. The broadcaster, who celebrates his 65th birthday today, shared this revelation in 2021 when he and his then-spouse Ruth Langsford discussed their weight loss journey.
Eamonn confessed that a mere nine months after making a New Year’s resolution to lose weight, he became “hooked” on juicing and dropped 10lbs (4.5kg) as a result. Speaking to the Mirror, he maintained that juicing had become an integral part of his routine, stating that “if I have lunch, I will have a juice for dinner”.
This wouldn’t be the last time Eamonn would talk about his health, as in 2024, the ex-This Morning presenter encountered a series of health problems that occasionally required him to use a wheelchair. Earlier this year, Eamonn gave a heartbreaking update on his quality of life following his separation from Ruth after 14 years of marriage.
In a video uploaded on his Instagram, he expressed that he had no option but to re-home adopted dog, Bella, as he was unable to care for himself. “Think about giving Bella a home. If I could walk and look after myself, she would be mine, but instead, you could be me”, the GB News presenter implored.
According to Hello!, Eamonn’s health has been deteriorating since around 2022, a year which saw him undergo several surgeries, including a procedure on his lower back. Moreover, in recent years he has also had a double hip replacement and battled shingles, a slipped disc, and spinal surgery.
Chatting to the Telegraph about his double hip replacement, he confessed: “Waiting was the worst decision I ever made. After having both of mine replaced seven years ago, aged 55, I haven’t had a single regret: in fact, it’s been life-changing.”
Eamonn isn’t alone in turning to juicing to drop the pounds; some influencers swear by the timing of your juicing sessions for maximum impact. Take TikTok whizz @myhealthandbeautyrecipes, who posted a mix-up that’s simple but allegedly mighty in melting the flab.
“Drink a glass of this secret military beverage every morning for a week, and you’ll see the fat from your belly disappear rapidly.”
Their clip suggests: “Peel three carrots and cut them into small slices. Carrots are the most commonly used vegetable in weight loss diets. Peel two oranges and cut them into small pieces. Oranges melt fat deposits around the abdomen and hips, and facilitate digestion.”
Not stopping there, they added: “Peel a piece of ginger and cut it into small pieces. Ginger stimulates metabolism by up to 20%, and can increase fat burning. It also reduces hunger, protects and speeds up digestion.”
